Hi all, a friend just re-sent this to me. His friend took the pictures in Casma - Peru, few of days ago. According to the email, it happened from 0930 and 1100 hours. It seems that he got little bit nervous about the unusual shape and characteristics.

By the way, Casma is known for its pyramids, at the ancient city of Moxeque. Also the ruins of Sechin Bajo (about 5,500 years old).

Your friend was lucky. He observed a rare combination of meteorological effects:
Circumsolar, and circumzenithal arcs.

It's there. No camera necessary.
Ice crystals in the stratosphere and just the right angle of sunlight.

Holy Crap!!!

Thats unbelievably rare!! Looks like you have a circumzenithal arc combined with a heliac arc and the more common 22 degree halo

I suggest you submit your picture to www.atoptics.co.uk...

They would be able to tell you exactly what they are, and will also probably ask to use your pic for their gallery
