I start a new job as a Production Editor for a publishing company in a few weeks and two of the tools I will use mostly are Adobe's InDesign and Illustrator. InDesign for laying books out and Illustrator for the graphics. I won't be creating the graphics, but resizing and all that jazz. Could anyone recommend some good basic tutorials online? I am very familiar with other Adobe products and have had brief exposure to the two I will be using in the job, and although full training will be provided, I wanted to get ahead of myself a bit before I start.

hey larry

ahhh my subject

1st ask what ever question you have
i will hopefully able to teach you

2nd some tutorials

videos at youtube
browse it a bit - there are even more

do you already know which version you will be using?

even if adobe always advertize the tremendous changes - usually those are marginal - so easy to star e.g. with CS2 and switch over to CS4

here is the helpdesk of adobe for version CS4

3rd i strongly recommend the dvds of video2brain to you

ebay might purchase it cheaper or your local library as a dvd to lend

4th books

the "in a classroom" series is good, but i don.t mind the "for dummies" series as well, gives you a brief overview
the best is training training training

again check the local library for copies

5th prepress tutorials
you need that aswell - if you don.t know already (if so no offense please)

Hey you,

Thank you very, very much. This is perfect and will help me a great deal.

I might have to ask you a question or two on some bits of the software.
