Is this Spiderman comic subliminally pushing homosexuality?

First, let me start by saying that I do not want this to become a gay-bashing thread. I have faith that most of us can discuss this in a serious manner without resorting to mudslinging. Thank you in advance.

Now, I saw this comic in yesterday's newspaper and something stood out to me, mainly in the first frame:

Yes, I know it's Tony Stark's "coat" when you see the comic strip in it's full three-frame form, but what sticks out is that the coat in the first frame is drawn in, I believe on purpose, to look like Spiderman's arm wrapped around Tony Stark's shoulders, just as anyone would do in even a friendly relationship. But then I see Tony Stark grabbing that hand in a similar fashion as a woman would grab a man's hand with his arm wrapped around her shoulders in an intimate relationship. Also notice the way Spiderman is turned slightly towards Stark suggesting that he's putting his arm around him.

Now, here's the kicker, read the dialogue. Sounds like Stark is asking Spiderman why he hasn't come out of the closet.......doesn't it?

I believe this was done on purpose and the "coat" is being used as plausible deniability.

Peace

Devils advocate here...

A subliminally pursued homosexual agenda is one possibility.

Another is an untalented artist whipping through frames in order to make a deadline in time to get paid.

I can see what you are referring too and your point.

At the same time though it could just as easily convey friendship.

I myself dont see anything wrong with putting an arm round a buddy and often do if I am out with good friends.

It is a jacket though and they are speaking about revealing spidermans identity, the idea of it being a jacket is reinforced with the two fingers pegging it over his shoulder.

Now if they were walking into a closet instead of a car I might say different

The better question is: If it was...

is that wrong?

In my opinion, it sounds nothing like a conversation even remotely concerning sexuality. It's about a masked vigilante's identity and his narcissistic friend's view on the issue.

To which I agreed, but does your friend grab your hand draped over their shoulder in any way? To me it's an important subtlety that speaks to the difference between a friendly relationship and an intimate one.

Not at all nope.

I can see exactly what you are getting at but I think its simply a case of looking into something too much.

Dont get me wrong though, there are things that are subliminal such as this...

I still think the comic drawings would be more defined in certain places if there were subliminal messaging in the pictures.

Well he does like shooting sticky webs at guys in tight clothing...

Too much? Sorry.

I'm not sure though maybe just that artist wasn't even thinking and kind of did it subliminally. But then again loads of old comics and superhero TV programs were fairly homo erotic. I think every superhero has that whole coming out of the closet aspect it is part an parcel of a secret identity.

I must be blind.
I don't see the subliminal advertising in that photo.
Unless you are saying that using palmolive soap is like taking a sensual shower?
Or maybe it's hinting at being naked and washing hair?

Back to the OP:
After seeing what you wrote about the hand draped over the shoulder...
I only realized what you meant after I read your explanation.
If I hadn't read that, I wouldn't of thought it was hinting towards homosexuality.

Of course, I see TV ads all day long with real subliminal messages about sexuality.
Plain as day on certain magazines too.

THAT is the SEXIEST comic strip I have EVER SEEN!!!

I mean @($& look at the font, the border, the dark lines. Mmmmm I am sweatin'

...

What?

Oh, I guess I misunderstood! Do I think something sexual is being hinted at in the comic? No. But this is my personal heterosexual opinion, not sure if it is worth much.

Your post is quite specific. There's definitely a so called "Gay Agenda" in action, but this little comic strip is nothing compared to everything else out there specifically in movies and music and especially those mainstream ones. I have no idea how we could ever find out if this was purposely done for a such a reason or not, but it really doesn't matter on the big scale of things.

Or it could just be a bored comic strip artist making a little "in joke" to help him get through the day

No. Wonder Woman is a submissive.

Wonder Woman naked in chains forced to give oral
The only happiness is found in obedience
Wo nder woman in chains takes a missile between her spread legs
Wonder woman prefers good mistresses

I can't for the life of me see what you are purporting the comic as depicting. I don't see anyone's arm or hand touching each other.

Haha! It's all starting to fit...

Thanks so much for turning me on to a site I find quite entertaining, LordBucket...

I was attempting a bit of humour myself...shall we say...
