Moderate American Muslims want to better integrate and rub elbows with other Americans. Or so the mainstream media would have me believe. The Ground Zero Mosque/cultural center is advertised as a means to this. World Islamic outrage against the Floridian pastor burning Qurans has been discussed ad nauseam in recent weeks. The destruction of these books would apparently be an insult and sacrilegious to militant fundamentalist Muslims and moderates alike. What can we learn from this? What practical use can we derive from this information?

Pro-Mosque Demonstrators Group After 9/11 Memorial Near Ground Zero

One opinion regarding the threatened book burning: Why burning the Quran is a sin

We know both sides of these issues. There are seemingly unresolvable conflicts involved. What can be done?

This Mosque is apparently seen as a necessity and a right by a segment of our population. We should accept that and promote the project. Due to the seemingly close proximity to the planned skyscrapers at “Ground Zero”, this mosque would better serve the entire community, and isn’t that the official story, by being so large and close to the new skyscrapers that if ever there was another terrorist attack that the Mosque itself would be in eminent danger of being damaged or destroyed as was “Building 7”. That potential damage would likely give pause to fundamentalist Islamic terrorists. This could help protect the investments of “Silverstein Properties” the Port Authority and the entire neighborhood. Better yet, would “Silverstein Properties” consider leasing space in the new towers to the Mosque group to incorporate a Mosque directly into this new symbol and center of decadent Western capitalism? I think the “Silverstein” group might be convinced to make lemonade. Considering the size of the planned buildings incorporating a relatively small “Islamic cultural center” might serve as Kryptonite to future fundamentalist terrorists. Just smart business.

Now that we’ve seen the reaction to only the threatened desecration of Muslim holy books, why are we not incorporating said books into every structure being built in this country? Would Islamic fundamentalists risk destroying their own holy book? Kryptonite for everyone!

What is the Islamic punishment for burning/destroying/desecrating the Quran? Is it only a punishment for infidels or does it hold for Muslims? Use superstition against the superstitious. Unless of course the entire Islamic indignation is just to render America defenseless against its’ own constitution. You can’t have it both ways folks. The families still suffering nine years after the attacks have already been insulted by the Mosque proposal and the protracted discourse. The insult will linger no matter what the outcome. It’s time to hold the proponents’ feet to the fire. I’m not so sure they will carry through if we all back this and take practical advantage of it in any way possible.

Oh and while we’re at it, what is the punishment for using Mosque as a metaphor for a lemon? Perhaps just having your thread ignored.
