Wackenhut is owned by Group 4 Falck Security Support Services. They bought them out in 2002.

Group 4 Falck Security Support Services

Group 4 Falck A/S was formed in the year 2000, by the merger of two of the world's leading security and protection service providers - Group 4 Securitas and Falck A/S. Two years later, through the acquisition of the Wakenhut Corporation in the United States of America, Group 4 Falck A/S further consolidated their global presence.

Building on the considerable strengths developed over the years by these three companies, we have been specifically developing our security training and consultancy operations, in order to broaden and enhance our already superior service.

Group 4 Falck A/S are now one of the largest providers of global security services in the world, and the second largest in the United States. We employ over 230,000 staff in more than 85 countries, and at the end of 2002 had an annual turnover approaching Euro 4 billion.

The Asia and Africa Region within Group 4 Falck A/S operates in more than 22 countries across the African and Asian continents.

Group 4 Falck Security Support Services (SSS) is part of the Asia and Africa Region. We are an Asia and Africa Regional resource, providing security training and security consultancy to Governments and private sector corporate organisations throughout the Region.

I know Wackenhut is a pretty big outfit. I used to work as a security officer for Pinkerton, who always competed with them for contracts. I enjoyed the work (though kind of boring at times) but the pay wasn't very good.

I'd never seen any of their vehicles around Michigan.
But, I see that Walmart uses them for their security detail. There was one of their jeeps parked right outside their store the other day...That's a little scary

group 4 was considered a joke in the UK.. there were actually several "Group 4 jokes" in circulation around 2000-2001 after they repeatedly let escorted prisoners escape and had their armored cars go missing. they make fun of them in the video game 'grand theft auto' also. just fwiw.

How does Sony make fun of them in GTA? Explain that to me, because I have that game, and I'd like to see that for myself!

the vans in england would say 'gruppe 4' on them in german. the vans in gta say 'gruppe sechs', german for group six, but sounding like... the programming group that did gta for sony is english i think, so chances were they were familiar with the gruppe 4 vans, which used to be everywhere before they changed their logo after the prison breaks/other messups.

btw- here's a good report on them, in .rtf format.

Interesting...

"Barrie Gane, ex-deputy head of MI6, joined Group 4 in June 1993. This was the most senior member of the intelligence service to have joined the private security sector. A Group 4 spokesperson comments; His knowledge of international affairs is particularly useful in the development of our strategy and international growth."

"Spying on the world
Group 4 Falck is part of consortium of three firms who got a 30 year contract to build and run the new 300 million GCHQ building (Britains spy centre to monitor communications worldwide)."

That is information I did not previously know.
