Questions about Writer status

I noticed that all the how tos on gaining writer status are quite old in the collaborative writing section. I really wish to be involved in that forum, as writing is one of my greater passions. My main question is:

I s worldwatcher the only one who grants that status still? I have sent a couple u2us to them and it appears that they don't get received or something. Maybe I'm just impatient.

Anyway, I would really like writer status so that I may begin some of my writing projects there and aid in others. If anyone can shed some light on this or help me out, I would greatly appreciate it.
