This Should Be Fun... Recurring NAZI Dreams

For whatever reason, I've been having Nazi dreams for the last week.

Allow me to describe the conditions: No booze, no drugs, but an endless pipeline of caffein via carbonated beverages, which I imbibe by way of fountain drinks. I just love a soda jerk, always have. In truth, it's mostly water, because I fill up the cup with ice. So, I'm only actually drinking about a measured cup of cola diluted with 36 ounces of water. That's the anatomical way of looking at it. So, I drink cola-flavored water all day long,

Aside from that, my diet is kind of restricted, no friendly steaks or racks of voluptuous ribs or any of that. I'm eating rabbit food (vegetables) when I eat, and I get to CHEAT once a week, according to my doctor who is also one of the members of the church council that voted to have me bodily removed from ch — EH! Not going there.

Ironic, though, isn't it? HE tells me it's okay to cheat.

You crooks are reading this, aren't you? HA! Choke on it.

So. Psychologically, I'm really upbeat and optimistic, I'm reasonably healthy for a male of 50 years. Yeah, I look at ass, and my wife knows it. NO, I do not chase ass, and my wife knows this, as well. I am not stupid.

Summary: Everything is cool, no crises, the dog is asleep.

So here come three nights of weird NAZI dreams. Linked together. Telling a story. Pretty cool, in a way, because the dreams are so vivid and detailed and well-costumed and the lighting is almost theatrical. But all these dreams revolve around a fantastically complex Nazi operation to ensure that Adolf Hitler inseminates a virgin and sires a son who leads the Third Reich into the Future, ja.

My part in the dream is that of a concentration camp PRISONER of the Nazis, and several of my friends and colleagues are prisoners as well, and we must suffer the nonstop lies and crap and abuse even as we watch the Third Reich rising to power.

Over a period of three days, I am not kidding, this dream story unfolded, picking up right where it left off every time I went to sleep.

No. No televisions or radios influencing my dream state. I sleep in the upstairs master bedroom of a hundred-year-old house, in complete privacy and isolation and there are no external audio sources up there to contaminate my sleep. It's blissful, living silence. Except for my snoring.

Most interesting is that the dream of the third night involved a prison break, or liberation by the allies, and I was able to rescue the virgin from Adolf Hitler! YAY

Man... I can only imagine the replies, but please do reply.

Mainly, I want to know if anybody ELSE is having Nazi dreams, because this thing was so sprawling and cinematic that I could easily imagine MANY consciousnesses contributing to the spectacle.

Though I didn't specialist in psych (because I find it incredibly boring and tedious), it sounds like classic martyr complex. This is strengthened even further by your need to bring up the church episode and your "victimization" despite no need to do so here. Your subconscious (at least, I HOPE it's your subconscious) feels the need to remind everyone how "wronged" and "singled out" you've been, and the dreams are trying to integrate these feelings, which is though to be what dreams are for (integration of emotion and memory).

The subconscious is a truly interesting and truly human thing. It tells a lot more about a person than their willful, conscious actions/words.

Okay, I can dig that. Yeah, martyr complex is cool, I suppose. So, carrying this analogy a bit further, the Nazis represent the corrupt members of the community, I'm a victim, and they're trying to take the holy of holies, the Church-Virgin, as their unwilling bride. Hmmmm. Interesting notion.

Interesting, only last night, my girlfriend and I decided to watch some vids online about hitler, and she got on to asking me if I had ever dreams that I`d killed hitler. She has dreams like that twice, I haven`t at all. She also said that it is quite a common dream among people in general, something I haven`t yet took the time to investigate.

Consider that it is quite a common dream for the sake of this thread for a moment though, and I wonder if perhaps martyr complex type dreams are represented by the image of nazis and or hitler since it`s the most poignant collective memory people have of barbarism and justification of martyrdom in recent decades?

(Not that I think martyrdom is necessarily justifiable, but as far as the sub-conscious may choose to manifest dreams pertaining to a martyr complex, it`s just one way of looking at it)

I've just been very impressed with the incredible detail of the dreams, the scenes of us prisoners crammed into cattle-cars, for instance, where the stench of humanity, not to mention the sense of hopelessness, is overpowering. And the emotional rollercoaster, not knowing if THIS would be your last day, trying to stay alive for just a few more hours at a time. Pretty nerve-wracking. And all the haughty, conniving, backstabbing Nazis around us at all times, threatening our every move and every breath.

It was very REAL.

I suppose that's one way to interpret it. My interpretation (though, again, NOT a psychologist/psychiatrist, so I wouldn't even begin to suggest it is a professional opinion) is that your subconscious chose a symbol of what you deem to be an oppressor or victimizer (the Nazis) and modeled your idea of yourself as a victim around that symbol. Symbolism, especially using common cultural themes, isn't uncommon in dream ideation.

Interesting Doc. I'd like to hear the story.

How much of it can you remember?

So now that you have rescued the virgin, do you think the dream will stop?

Yeah, that was the last dream, and it's been a couple of days with no recurrence.

I remember the whole thing, being captured by the Nazis, being loaded into cattle cars, unloading at the concentration camp, and the relentless threats and abuse by Nazi guards. People being killed all around us, seemingly on a moment's whim, and we were all in a daze, not knowing who would be next.

There were two or three attempted escapes, which all failed. During the whole incarceration, we were constantly being told how close Hitler and the Third Reich were to world domination. The atmosphere was incredibly hopeless.

One thing that I thought was very interesting is that everyone was, in fact, speaking German for the duration of the dreams. There were even German dialect experts there, listening for faulty accents that would give away the "spies" in their midst.

Most of the dream settings were at night, late at night, illuminated here and there by very dim, flickering yellow light bulbs hanging from the ceilings of the gray sleeping quarters. Screams of agony way off in the darkness. Talk about creepy.

I think you might be reliving the episodes of your past life, or one of your past lives to be exact. You can explore it under hypnosis to find out the truth. lookup regression hypnosis and maybe try to find someone who could do this for you. Under hypnosis other details will be resurfaced, if you indeed lived that life. You can then try confirm the name, location, etc. However, I warn you that it may be too stressful and painful having to relive what you have been through.

Please keep us updated on your findings if you decide to try hypnosis.
