Saddam Hussein has been sacked and is now long dead. Osama Bin Laden has faded away, a ghost of a man who may have never actually existed. Afghanistan is collapsing, their puppet president is shying away from western control, and taxpayer dollars continue paying for the war effort. Similarly, we are pumping dollars away into the coffers and bank accounts of military defense contractors and construction companies in Iraq. The US is holed up there for the long haul, adhering to the dual doctrines of the Long War and Disaster Capitalism, both pushed by overlapping right wing, pro-free market think tanks such as the Heritage Foundation.

So what now?

Two new bogeymen are on the rise, and the world seems to be rushing towards a war with both of them:

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the president of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and Kim Jong Il, the leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. Two sanctioned, ostracized countries whose views and politics deviate sharply from that of the West. Perhaps that is the overly simple reason for the ever increasing sabre rattling against these nations. Perhaps it is continued neo-colonialism, such as Afghanistan, Iraq, or Central America in the 1980s. Perhaps it is at the behest of the Israeli lobby is America, frightened over the prospect of the already nuclear armed North Korea providing vital technology to Iran. Perhaps it is all over the above. Which ever way that it is, a conflict with either or both of these countries will certainly be a cash cow for the companies that will inevitably see those checks for contracts.

America has a habit of ensuring conflict later down the road, much like Saul Alinsky's theory of the revolution-counterrevolution - every instigated event will have violent ramifications down the road. For example, under the guidance of liberal-leaning warhawk Zbigniew Brzezinski (who has recently promoted the idea with splitting ties with Israel in favor of appeasement with Iran), the Carter administration began funding the Taliban in Afghanistan as part of a proxy war with the invading Soviet forces. These policies would be continued by the corporate spokesman-in-chief Ronald Reagan, during a time in which Osama Bin Laden himself would receive funding and training from the CIA. Simultaneously, Donald Rumsfeld was being sent by Reagan to meet with Saddam Hussein in Baghdad:

Throughout the period that Rumsfeld was Reagan s Middle East envoy, Iraq was frantically purchasing hardware from American firms, empowered by the White House to sell. The buying frenzy began immediately after Iraq was removed from the list of alleged sponsors of terrorism in 1982. According to a February 13, 1991 Los Angeles Times article:

First on Hussein's shopping list was helicopters -- he bought 60 Hughes helicopters and trainers with little notice. However, a second order of 10 twin-engine Bell "Huey" helicopters, like those used to carry combat troops in Vietnam, prompted congressional opposition in August, 1983... Nonetheless, the sale was approved.

In 1984, according to The LA Times, the State Department in the name of increased American penetration of the extremely competitive civilian aircraft market pushed through the sale of 45 Bell 214ST helicopters to Iraq. The helicopters, worth some $200 million, were originally designed for military purposes. The New York Times later reported that Saddam transferred many, if not all [of these helicopters] to his military.

In 1988, Saddam s forces attacked Kurdish civilians with poisonous gas from Iraqi helicopters and planes. U.S. intelligence sources told The LA Times in 1991, they believe that the American-built helicopters were among those dropping the deadly bombs.

The Saddam in Rumsfeld’s Closet

A decade later, Donald Rumsfeld signs the infamous Project for the New American Century letter to President Clinton, calling for a regime change in Iraq. Fast forward another four years, and Rumsfeld is the United States Secretary of Defense, and the US military machine in rolling tanks through Iraq. And the cash keeps flowing.

Rumsfeld, in his capacity as Secretary of Defense, had great influence over the shaping of the Bush Doctrine, which is essentially the blueprint laid out by the Project for the New American Century and other pro-Israeli neoconservative think-tanks. Bush identified Iran, Iraq, and North Korea as being part of an 'axis of evil':

"States like these, and their terrorist allies, constitute an axis of evil, arming to threaten the peace of the world. By seeking weapons of mass destruction, these regimes pose a grave and growing danger. They could provide these arms to terrorists, giving them the means to match their hatred. They could attack our allies or attempt to blackmail the United States.

Pretty easy to maintain an enemy if you are involved in the initial creation of said enemy... but this is not isolated to Afghanistan and Iraq.

Just prior to joining the Bush administration, Rumsfeld sat on the board of directors of a company called ABB, a Zurich-based engineering firm. Allow me to pull a quote from the ABB, dated 2000, during a time in which Rumsfeld sat on the board:

Zurich, Switzerland, January 20, 2000 – ABB, the global technology group, said today it has signed contracts to deliver equipment and services for two nuclear power stations at Kumho, on the east coast of North Korea. The contracts, with a value of US$ 200 million, were awarded by HANJUNG (Korea Heavy Industries and Construction Co. Ltd.) and KOPEC (Korea Power Engineering Corp.).

The two nuclear plants are being supplied to North Korea under a Supply Agreement with KEDO (Korean Energy Peninsula Development Organization), a consortium formed in 1995 by the governments of the United States, Japan, South Korea and the European Union. KEDO is to provide the stations under the Agreed Framework signed by the U.S. and North Korea in 1994.

Under the terms of the contracts, ABB will provide engineering, design and components for the two 1,000-megawatt (Mwe) light water nuclear steam supply systems. The systems are an advanced version of ABB’s System 80 design, which is being employed under license in eight reactors in South Korea. The two power stations are scheduled to begin commercial operation by 2007 and 2008, respectively.

Here is another interesting article, courtesy of Asian Times:
PYONGYANG WATCH: Investing in North Korea: As easy as ABB?

How convienent for the Bush administration that their Secretary of Defense was involved in directly assisting two out of the three members of the 'axis of evil'. But what of Iran? It turns out that another familiar face will appear there.

According to a Project Censored article from 2007, Halliburton, in an illegal circumvention of US sanctions, sold an Iran development firm the vital compoments in developing a nuclear reactor. Of course, during 2005, Dick Cheney was no longer working for the company. Sure, he held massive amount of Halliburton stocks, and his administration's wars were paying off nicely for the company, but this evidence is circumstantial.

Dick Cheney, Iran and Halliburton

The above is a report from the office of Senator Frank Lautenberg, detailing a Grand Jury investigating Halliburton's business dealings with the Iranian regime as far back as 1997. Of course, it was in this time period that Cheney was acting as the president of the company. The PDF file even discusses Cheney lobbying against sanction on both Iran and Libya. Again, fast forward a mere handful of years, and Cheney is now lobbying not for easing Iranian sanctions for the countries' economic benefit, but for the invasion of the country. Somehow, thankfully, George Bush realized just how bad of an idea this was.

But now we have Barack Obama, continuing the sabre rattling. War with Iran seems to be on the forefront of everyone's minds in the Middle East, while drillings are going down in Korea under the threat of a sacred 'nuclear war' from the northern 'hermit kingdom'. There are clear links going back to the 1980s that help us understand how the Bush administration went to lengths that it did - so what forces are at work here that are keeping the Obama administration continuing the Iron Triangle policies? Perhaps it is the people he surrounds himself with, such as Robert Hormat:

Not only has Mr. Hormats worked for Goldman Sachs since 1982 — rising there through the years ultimately to attain the title Vice Chairman of Goldman Sachs International and Managing Director of Goldman, Sachs & Co. — but he is also a trustee of the Freedom House, whose associations include the extremist Right-wing Sarah Scaife Foundation; Peter Ackerman, also associated with Scaife's group; Project for the New American Century neo-conservative chickenhawk Kenneth Adelman (who endorsed then-Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama in October of 2008); Diana Negroponte, wife of Reagan- and Bush-era denizen John Negroponte; and an assortment of other individuals of varying degrees of repute and ill-repute.

Grunge Men, Obama Man, All the Men Together

The cycle continues, and the money keeps flowing.

Great thread my friend! S&F

Yes! this is the story about the PNAC cabal and their insane plans for the world - and it's very interesting to see which corporations and what each character had been involved with, before and after the Bu$h administration. And how well all that fit in with the current US Geopolitical agenda & foreign policy.

Do you possibly have any link to that statement from Brzezinski?

Because I had a discussion with a friend about recent and future developments in the world and different possible scenarios, and he said something similar a year ago.

And that would actually fit one crazy theory and a scenario that he was playing around with.

Cheers!

800 bases in 130 countries.

What else needs to be said?

We are EMPIRE.

Will not agree with you on some things OP, but I definitely agree with you on this.

The globalization of the world needs to be stopped. Once sovereignty of nations is complete, we as individuals will be the last on their agenda.

Glad you enjoyed the thread! It is very frightening indeed... and I believe we need to discern directly the mechanisms that are having Obama continue the neo-con agenda.

I have two items. The first was reported by ABC News:

The national security adviser for former President Jimmy Carter, Zbigniew Brzezinski, gave an interview to The Daily Beast in which he suggested President Obama should make it clear to Israel that if they attempt to attack Iran's nuclear weapons sites the U.S. Air Force will stop them.

"We are not exactly impotent little babies," Brzezinski said. "They have to fly over our airspace in Iraq. Are we just going to sit there and watch? ... We have to be serious about denying them that right. That means a denial where you aren’t just saying it. If they fly over, you go up and confront them. They have the choice of turning back or not. No one wishes for this but it could be a 'Liberty' in reverse."

Zbig Brzezinski: Obama Administration Should Tell Israel U.S. Will Attack Israeli Jets if They Try to Attack Iran

In 2006, Brzezinski said the following:

"These neocon prescriptions, of which Israel has its equivalents, are fatal for America and ultimately for Israel. They will totally turn the overwhelming majority of the Middle East's population against the United States. The lessons of Iraq speak for themselves. Eventually, if neo-con policies continue to be pursued, the United States will be expelled from the region and that will be the beginning of the end for Israel as well.

Brzezinski is involved with a secretive international think-tank known only as Le Cercle, which has recently moved towards Iranian and Arab appeasement in lieu of the Israeli (read: Neo-Conservative/PNAC) agenda. Here are two articles from the Institute for the Study of Globalization and Covert Politics:

Le Cercle and the struggle for the European continent

Le Cercle and the Struggle for the Eurasian Continent
New information: Notorious CIA "ghost" owned "Atlantic Cercle, Inc." from 1994 to 2002

Very long articles, full of details and a lot of names and dates to dig through, but ultimately very rewarding and eye opening. The latter one is a good source on the movement away from the Israeli agenda in our geo-political strategy.

Cracks are certainly beginning to appear in our empirical plans.

Good thread also remember North Korea,Syria and Iran are hold outs from the global Rothschild banking system which just like Serbia,Iraq and Afghanistan will stand to make a killing from them the standard recipe is bomb them to the stone age then give them the billions which you will get back plus interest to rebuild and indebt the nation and its people for generations and have corporations rape their resources.
