outlet converter question for iPod...

I got my bf an iPod for when he moves to Italy. He wanted one when he went running so I got him an iPod and some other things for his move. I didn't get a power adapter however because I am kind of confused on what I have read on what to get. I just want to get one so he can use his ipod. If I can get a power strip that has more than one plug, then he can use it around the house. I am kind of making him a little Italy care package you could say, getting things that will come in handy when moving to another country.

A side question on power outlet adapters or whatever they are called, I am going to Europe in November, will I need to buy one of these for my computer and phone? I have always been told to make sure I don't forget this but then some have told me I don't need them. So I am slightly confused.
