Lawmaker: Obama to send 1,200 troops to border
TUCSON, Ariz. — An Arizona congresswoman says the Obama administration will announce that it will send as many as 1,200 National Guard troops to the U.S.-Mexico border to improve border security.

Democratic Rep. Gabrielle Giffords also says in a statement Tuesday that President Barack Obama will request $500 million in funding for border security.


I was watching the news and just heard about this. I went and looked for it on the web, and it is official, the federal government is actually going to do something and is sending national guard troops to the boarder between Mexico and the United states to secure the boarder. It is about time they did something, but something also tells me this is also part political in nature.

Or it could be to provide relief in the event of
a disaster perhaps?
