Fishermen Sign On to Clean Up Oil

www.nytimes.com

So the fishermen came to receive training in how to clean up the oil spill that was creeping up on the nearby coastline. They were hoping to be hired by BP, the company blamed for the spill and responsible for cleanup efforts.

“We have bills to pay,” said Acy Cooper, the president of a local fishermen’s association. “I don’t care if it’s the federal government or BP, but someone needs to step up and compensate us.”

Thousands of lost jobs due to one oil drilling mess-up. They had better higher them on to help clean up the mess, because one, it needs cleaned up, and two, they should never have lost there job due to one oil rig goof-up.

I agree, the fishermen need to be paid. The oil company doesn't need paid by the federal government, the fishermen do, and if money is given to the oil company I think there are going to be thousands of angry fishermen.

Heres the problem..did they sign a contract with the governemnt or bp amocco stating theya re entitled to compensation? im not knocking those fishermen at all! working in a retail phamracutical store, business, nothing is done without certified contracts and/or paperwork. it isnt like in the 1930's and 40's mena nd women with skills to build buildinigs, for example, were put to work, masonry as well.
Today, everything almost, is done by paperwork, unless...your an illegal immigrant working for less then thats the problem. todays businesworld it seems, wants to flaunt and overspend money to justify its power and earnings, or hire illegals for less. of an american citizen wants to do it, its a no no..a liability*

This is bull#

If wallstreet has taught us anything, it's that you never do something without making a profit, and you only go after the highest profits.

This is bull# that people are "helping" eachother.. #, this isn't communist Russia we live in. We're not SOCIALISTS.

Somebody stop those dumb fishermen from ruining our capitalist system!
