Kyrgyz President Bakiyev 'will resign if safe'

Kyrgyzstan's ousted President Kurmanbek Bakiyev has said he will resign if the interim government guarantees his and his family's safety, reports say.

Mr Bakiyev has been in the south of the country since he was overthrown in violent protests last week.

The interim government earlier lifted his presidential immunity and said it would arrest him by force if he refused to surrender.

This is an interesting development. I wonder what will happen with the very importantly strategic US base that is in that country.

Was Russia a direct backer of this revolt against the president like the CIA in Iran back in the 70's? Is this an undercover attempt to undermine the US and establish their own empirical ambitions? New Cold War scenario??

This is getting more and more interesting...

Keeping the peace,

Magnum
