Gendercide: China's shameful massacre of unborn girls means there will soon be 30m more men than women

By the year 2020, there will be 30 million more men than women of marriageable age in this giant empire, so large and so different (its current population is 1,336,410,000) that it often feels more like a separate planet than just another country. Nothing like this has ever happened to any civilisation before.

The nearest we can come to it is the sad shortage of men after the First World War in Britain, France, Russia and Germany, and the many women denied the chance of family life and motherh.

Pretty amazing but predictable!

To many men, not enough women is not a good thing:

It is possible that the effects of that imbalance are still with us, in the shape of the radical feminist movement which found ready recruits among the husbandless teachers and other professionals of the Twenties and Thirties.

And not to mention that young men can be, well, very bothersome if not meaningfully employed! And employment is a large problem in China!

All kinds of speculation is now seething about what might happen; a war to cull the surplus males, a rise in crime, a huge expansion in the prostitution that is already a major industry in every Chinese city, a rise in homosexuality.

A lot of down side, enough to keep Chinese leader, Hu, thinking and planning well into the future!

What is wrong with feminism? Obviously the lack of it has meant girls are killed. Supply and demand.. I predict that the dowry tradition will be shelved as parents get desperate to find their sons brides. Forced abortions is a nasty business but china is paying the consequences big time.

Uh...racist much? The Chinese were the first to ever circumnavigate the globe. Most of our appliances, toys, and a great deal of gadgetry is assembled in China. They keep the US in check. I think thats a good thing.

The Chinese are not robots. They're human beings just like your snotty self. They have dreams, aspirations, fears and CHILDREN just like everybody else. That you have entirely avoided commenting on the the topic, and instead used it to voice your distinct vacuity tells me you have never paid much attention to the round shape of this planet we all live on.


Ahem: This is a disturbing article. Guess the above mentioned military use is one side of a "conspiracy"; engineering, building, etcetera is another. Not sure what the current leadership and policy is aiming at however; you're only harming the future of your nation from population growth....oh wait a minute.

Oh, and people abort their girls in many more countries than China. Australia, United States, Britain, Germany, Russia, France...on and on and on...people have their daughters aborted every day.

No fascist police force takes these women to the clinic and holds their legs open for the operation. A truly screwed up policy that dictates males over females sure...but you may want to apply the measure to where you live before ranting about the evil socialist robots coming to a town near you to slaughter your unborn. What ridiculous-ness.

A few years ago the Autralian government sent an 8 month pregnant woman back to china (she had already had her one child). She was trying to claim refugee status on the grounds that they would force her to have an abortion but was denied. The baby was of course aborted so yeah it does happen.

I was refering to a wide-spread practice which happens routinely. Like penalties for thievery, etcetera. Like I said, I completely agree that the favouring of males over females is messed up...but again I re-iterate that this is not a blanket approach, in which all women are rounded up at the first sign of morning sickness to have their fetuses gender classified and removed should the result show an undesirable

This reminds me of an episode of Ripley's believe it or not. When the host was narrating about how Chinese women will put their feet in tiny shoes and morph them. Since it was a cultural thing in China. Many women did it and on the program China suffered a great deal of deaths in the woman population.

Its really unfortunate.

30 million males without a woman isn't a good thing at all. Males are more favored over women in china obviously, but for people to get rid of their girl babies is just plain narrow minded and idiotic. Did they think girls for their boys would grow on trees? My grandpa had two girls and he was happy with them. Carrying on the family name meant nothing to him, because its just a tradition when it comes to names, the genes still get passed on.

Hopefully after the culling wars that probably will happen as their politicans won't want to deal with so many lost men people will finally wisen up to the true value of girls and that the birth of a girl will be celebrated as much as a boys birth.

They reap what they sow.

Hopefully nations who value girls won't be attacked by these countries and any wars if it happens will be amongst themselves.

Oh, and those who says it also happens in western nations... Yeah, it does, but usually among ethnic minority immigrants from certain countries who have no sense.

OK, we have proved that China is a mean and horrible country.

She may have been an example of what happens when someone disobeys the one child policy.. naturally people will try avoid that and otherwise how do they enforce that policy? I do not like it but I realize if Australia had've sent her back then it would set a precedent and women could save their babies by claiming refugee status. On principle I think she should have been granted it but that would have strained relations between Australia and China.

Actually, the Chinese authorities do take pregnant women by force to abortion clinics. Baby girls and second children, regardless of gender, are forcibly aborted up to birth. In some parts of China, hospital porters earn more than doctors on abortion clinics. This is because hospital porters are charged with disposing of the aborted children, even if they are still alive.
