Sex muti 'umvusa nkunzi' kills man
The safety of health products sold on the streets was put on the spotlight when a man died after developing health complications from drinking
a traditional concoction.
The man, who wanted to impress his wife in bed, died recently after drinking umvusa nkunzi, a traditional concoction for stamina and endurance in
bed.
Simon Dube (=pseudonym) died in South Africa while undergoing treatment a few weeks ago after he had been transferred from the Raleigh Fitkin Memorial
(RFM) Hospital.
A relative, who preferred anonymity due to the sensitive nature of the story, said Dube sought medical attention after his private parts would not
return to their normal state.
"The problem started when they were making love with his wife and she noticed something different because he spent more time with her such that she
began complaining. She then queried this and discovered that he had taken the muti. However, his manhood failed to go back to its original position
and this went on for two days," the relative said.
Seeing that the problem was persisting, the relative said Dube decided to seek medical attention. It is said that he went to the RFM and was
transferred to a South African hospital after his condition failed to normalize but developed complications. When sought for a comment, a doctor
(known to this newspaper) who treated him cited doctor/patient confidentiality. He did not confirm nor deny the matter.
However, a relative alleged that Dube bought the traditional medicine at the Manzini Market. "It seems this was not his first time because he told us
that he found a child standing in for the woman who sold traditional medicine. I think the child did not give him the correct instructions to
follow," assumed the relative. The relative alleged that Dube might have overdosed the medicine in order to add 'fire' to his passion.
A visit by this reporter to the Manzini Market yesterday confirmed that the medicine was sold there. However, efforts to locate the woman or child who
might have sold the medicine to Dube proved to be fruitless as no one wanted to own up.

Half a teaspoon of umvusa nkunzi lasts about two days in the immune system, says a traditional healer.
Mpumelolo Sibandze who runs a traditional medicine stall at the Manzini Market explained that the 'booster' subsides at the end of the intimate
game. "I have never heard of a situation where the 'man-member' will be upright for more than a day or two. In this case you are asking me about, I
think he was given something else not umvusa nkunzi. Even if you take more than the required dosage, it will not have any effect," he said.
Asked how it is applied into the system, Sibandze said it came in two forms, crushed herbs and a mixture of herbs (imbita) in a litre. "With the
powder, you can mix it with milk, soup or mageu (fermented porridge mixture) about two hours before engaging in any sexual encounter. The imbita is
used to clean the immune system, especially around the waistline. It should be taken at least a week before," he said.

I am probably drawing the wrong moral from this story, but, I do see a multi-million-dollar business opportunity lurking, for somebody, around the
fringes of this incident.
Any ATS folks who are devotees of this exciting product (or products)?
