China got Taiwan to sell nuclear parts to Iran

www.google.com

TAIPEI — A Taiwanese firm allegedly sold equipment that can be used to make nuclear weapons to Iran under a request from China, a Taipei-based magazine said.

The firm received an online order from China last year to buy pressure transducers on behalf of an Iranian oil company for pipeline construction, Next Magazine reported this week.

The firm later shipped 108 pressure transducers it had acquired from a Swiss firm to Iran as exporting the items was not illegal in Switzerland or Taiwan, the report said, citing a Taiwanese trade official.

Well this really doesnt surprise me, and seems to give the thinking behind Chinese unwillingness to back the US/UK calls for further much stronger sanctions against Iran.

This information would also confirm what some people on ATS have already considered, that China and Russia have a vested interest in keeping the Iran situation with the US ongoing, and that stability in the area is not something that Moscow and Bejing are all to interested in. Instability in the region would keep the western powers occupied, for what reason is still unclear.

China are keeping us busy with Iran,so that we do not notice what they are really up to.(stealth take over of the world)
China will, one day, show their true colors and make Al Qaeda look like a bunch of well meaning boy scouts.
Just my opinion, which I really hope is wrong, but we will see.

Would it defiantly of been Chinese govt involvement here? - It could just be business parties within China and Taiwan who managed to find a way to make the deal happen - there would of been a lot of money involved for this deal I would of thought... It could of been a private arrangement.

As soon as israel attacks Iran, Russia and China are going to give Iran the green light and ask Obama which side he's on.

I think Obama is going to be the fall guy, and take a backseat and watch israel crumble.

Russia and especially China, back Iran like we do israel, we are screwed!

Of course China would do this along with the other weapons and armoured vehicles they hurried to the Iranian regime. China will make Russia look friendly in comparison during this decade.

I totally agree, China and Russia are the players behind the scenes pulling the strings, waiting for the ideal set of circumstances, and yes Obama and Israel acting againt Iran would be the catalyst for all hell to break loose and that will make the past World Wars pale in comparison.

No-one really knows what China has up its sleeve, its a very worrying time.

None of these countries would militarily back the Iranian regime with their own armies, but they'll both supply as much weapons as they can, with China more willing to go that bit further - and even armoured vehicles from China's own current stock shows how desperate they are to keep the regime in power. I'd be more concerned about China than Russia, and Russia will be unsure about China emerging as a competitor almost as much as the concern in the west.

China and Russia are virtually partners, do you not remember the 2008 Joint military exercises, China/Russia and India?

Plus the Russians have been passing the Chinese equipment for the past few years, the Chinese renovate military hardware in exchange for the technology, particularly useful for Chinese Navy.

Gas pipeline a symbol of China's power: analysts

BEIJING — China has quietly rewritten the geopolitical landscape in Central Asia in recent years, breaking Russia's monopoly over the export of the region's energy resources also coveted by the West, experts say.

The proof came last week when Chinese President Hu Jintao travelled to the region for the inauguration of a natural gas pipeline snaking from Turkmenistan through Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan into China's far western Xinjiang region.

Maybe China has their own Charlie Wilson, most assuredly russia has a few.. looking to inflict US casualties as payback for the scores of russians "charlie wilsons war" killed (where isreal sold soviet weapons to afghanistan be use against soviet troops).

So much for odrama / US claims of iran being "increasingly isolated"... iran just got nuke parts and finished a sweet russia / china / iran / turkmenistan pipeline. I think it's fantastic these nations are both ignoring the DC mafia and giving them a taste of their own back door deal medicine.

Although it wouldn't surprise me now if a tampon bomber emerges from turkmenistan requiring odrama to belch on about "regime change"..

Russia, China, Iran redraw energy map
www.atimes.com...

"The United States' pipeline diplomacy in the Caspian, which strove to bypass Russia, elbow out China and isolate Iran, has foundered"

"Within the space of three weeks, Turkmenistan has committed its entire gas exports to China, Russia and Iran."

"...its annual capacity is 20bcm, and that would meet the energy requirements of Iran's Caspian region and enable Tehran to free its own gas production in the southern fields for export"

Dont forget the Egyptians. War is big business.

Charlie Wilson's War

And there were also tens of thousands of automatic weapons, antitank guns, and satellite intelligence maps. According to author George Crile, Wilson even brought his own belly dancer from Texas to Cairo to entertain the Egyptian defense minister, who was secretly supplying the mujahedin with millions of rounds of ammunition for the AK-47s the CIA was smuggling into Afghanistan.[b/]

Then factor in Syria and India, not to mention the Arab League of Nations, plus you dont really think NATO members will help, it will be the US, UK and possibly logistical support from France, Eastern Europe wont want to upset Russia.

Those countries I cant figure are Japan, Pakistan or the response of the EU political body, seeing as Germny has alot of power there, yet is friendly toward Russia.

Russia and China would not send their troops to defend Iran. Russia loves the Idea of Iran thumbing it's nose to the US/EU that way the sanctions stay in place. If there was a Regime Change or a policy change coming from Tehran then the sanctions come off and Iran would be able to sell it's fuel to Europe. Russia does not want more competition.

China could care less now that they have their own Pipeline going from central Asia and they don't have to rely as much as they were on Tehran for their oil.
