Al-Qa'ida prefers U.S. to stick around

www.theaustralian.com.au

THE Obama administration will shortly unveil its new strategy for the Afghan conflict.

A key objective is the denial of al-Qa'ida access to sanctuary in Afghanistan -- a goal the Bush administration also shared. There has been vigorous debate within the US political establishment about what strategy will best achieve this goal. Counter-insurgency proponents argue for increased troop levels while others believe it can be achieved by a targeted counter-terrorism campaign with a lighter force footprint.

Both of these approaches rest on the longstanding premise that al-Qa'ida wants anothe

This article details information on Al Qaeda that could change the whole U.S. strategy in Afghanistan.

According to this, Al Qaeda is not seeking a safe haven there, as we have previously supposed. Instead it is more likely to attack the U.S. on its own soil again. It's whole objective in attacking the U.S. in the first place was to incite us to invade Afghanistan.

Evidently increasing troop strength in Afghanistan just provides a further opportunity to wage "holy war" for Al Qaeda, which needs targets for it members to attack. It's real objective is to strike the U.S. at home.

LOL Duh! Of course their goal is to strike the US at home. BECAUSE WE ARE WAGING WAR AND PLUNDERING THE ENTIRE MIDDLE EAST! WE HAVE BEEN FOR YEARS! The west, specifically the US is doing to the Middle East what England did to Africa. It's disgusting. Dare I use the tired old cliche?..........we need to QUIT POLICING THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!! NUMBER 1: We can't afford it financially and Number 2: It's not worth the blowback that ensues.

Right now we are lucky terrorists have only fought back with ramming planes into buildings on our soil. What happens when these terrorists get brazen and start blowing themselves up in shopping malls and sports stadiums all across the US? In fact that is one reason why I think this whole war on terror is a big old farce. There is NOTHING stopping terrorists from doing these things inside the US right now. But they haven't! Why not? If they hate us so much why aren't they shooting up schools on a regular basis? Blowing themselves up like they do in Israel and every other country? Oh wait I guess our CIA and FBI are just that good right? LOL.

Honestly it’s laughable that El Qaeda wants to strike the U.S. as the reality is that every day of the week illegal immigrants and drug smugglers do a much better job at destroying the American way of life than Al Qaeda ever could.

Our borders here in the United States are so porous and have so many illegal humans, drugs and weapons flowing across them the only thing that could possibly be stopping El Qaeda from attacking us daily as these other scourges do is El Qaeda itself.

It’s highly doubtful El Qaeda was behind September 11th for that very reason. Just about every illegal alien in the world, every nickel and dime pusher of illegal narcotics, and every last little gun and weapons smuggler who wants in to the U.S. manages to get in and set up shop causing billions if not trillions of dollars in loss to our infrastructure in the way of health costs and school costs as well as deaths from drug related violence, immigrant gang wars and lowering the domestic wage.

El Qaeda is either the sorriest excuse for a terrorist group that ever was or it’s about as real as the boogeyman!

In fact we are so busy worrying about this boogey man and funding costly and bankrupting wars to fight this boogeyman that the real things that are destroying America as mentioned above continue at an accelerated and unabated pace.

America needs to wake up to this phony war on terror while there still is an America left.

You make some good points.

Still, I believe 9/11 justified a war. Just because there are other threats to the U.S. doesn't mean Al Qaeda isn't one.

The point I was trying to make in posting the article was that invading Afghanistan was evidently playing right into their strategy. A sobering thought.

Smoke and mirrors.

Why would the US government ever want to stop the flow of drugs, their is too much money in supposedly, trying to stop it. Hell, their are reporters killed for covering the import of drugs by the CIA.

The only bigger thing than the war on terror is the war on drugs, or a much more apt name, THE WAR ON THE US CITIZEN.

Private prisons, how many police just for this supposed "WAR".

When do we say enough is enough?

My friend Al Qaeda was/is a CIA data base of rogue operators, religious extremists, and people with specialized military, demolitions and computer and communication skills.

An oil pipeline to export oil out of the old Soviet Union that the Taliban refused to allow was promptly built by Royal Dutch Shell once we invaded.
Copper mines and deposits sought to be some of the largest in the world were sold to the Chinese, once we invaded. The opium poppy crop which the Taliban was eradicating has increased 90 fold since we invaded.

Yes we sure did play right into Al Qaeda's hands as it is nothing but a Western Intelligence Agency resource that was used to anger people just like you into attacking Afghanistan instead of Saudi Arabia where the alleged highjackers who have never been charged or tried in abstentia as well as Bin Laden who has never been charged or tried in abstentia were actually from.

Why? Because Saudi Arabia already has plenty of oil pipelines and transhipment facilities. They have no copper deposits to sell to a cash rich nation like China and they have no opium poppy fields either.

An internationalist consortium of Intelligence Agencies attacked the U.S. on 9-11 including our own CIA with the help of the MOSSAD and MI6 and rogue operators from their Al Qaeda database which in Arabic simply means 'network/database'.

It's all a fiction that's been sold to us. Our borders are so porous it's not funny, the Internationalists who control our country are trying to bankrupt it and destroy it from within with a wave of illegal immigration, lawlesness, drugs, violence and poverty. They are doing this because they want to set up a one world government and the only thing that can stop that is a Strong America!

America grows weaker by the day. The real terrorists are the Internationalists, the Council for Foreign Relations, the Bilderbergers, the Triatalists, the International Corporations, Bankers, Military Industrial Complex and the Network Media.

They do a heck of a good job at it too!

Too good.

Oh man, if I was in charge:

Boycott all Mid-East oil... it's "treason" to aide your enemy... who cares if gas goes up to $9 a gallon for a while (till we drill our own gosh darned oil)... the Mid-East will suffer so bad that.... there won't BE a Mid-East anymore... Al-Qaeda/Radical Islam, gone... I guess Allah doesn't love them anymore.

Give anyone in Europe or America the death penalty for possession of heroin after just 1 warning... which will eventually bankrupt Afghanistan, AND solve the heroin-addiction problem. It's "treason" to aide your enemy.

Give all illegal immigrants in America 1 year (from now) to either: leave, learn English (make English official language), or be hunted down the way President Jackson hunted down the Injins & runaways... anything less would be "treason" to aide your enemy.

But seriously, there are only like 2 million muslims in America, and only 3% of them are radical... so can't we just watch every single one? they watch every radical everythingelse.

They want the Americans to stay because the Americans are giving them handouts. It's more cost effective to pay off tribal leaders than to fight them, so they get paid not to fight the US, and the US uses their territory to transport supplies. Not to mention the corrupt government and oium crop.

From what I hear, the only ones left fighting in Afghanistan are those who won't take pay offs from the US.

No, al queda wants us to stay in afghanistan because the U..S. has a muslim leader just like they do and so they now consider us brothers.

And of course we give all of our brothers handouts.

Sounds like someone in iran was upset over their guy in pakistan getting killed, or their asset's being seized, someone get this on a thread...

PESHAWAR, Pakistan -- Witnesses say a large bomb has badly damaged the offices of Pakistan's spy agency in the northwestern city of Peshawar.

An Associated Press reporter says he saw at least eight badly injured or dead people being taken away in ambulances.

The blast early Friday badly damaged much of the three-story building and was heard throughout the city.

It was the latest in a string of attacks by militants since the government launched an offensive in mid-October against the Taliban's main stronghold in South Waziristan.

I think one of the main points of the article is that the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan just provides target practice--"holy jihad"-- for extremists, and plays into their strategy for the U.S.

Al Qaeda is really planning more attacks on U.S. soil.

That doesn't suggest they think of us as -- or our Christian president -- as "brothers."

If Al Qaeda wants us in Afghanistan, why are they justifying they want American troops out of the ME? The attacks on 9/11 seem to have done the opposite, but then the U.S. govt. sometimes don't follow the plan of the Al Qaeda's agenda. Arab cavemen are too stupid for that right? Al Qaeda claims they are fighting for the freedom of Islam while the U.S. govt. calls them terrorists that hates freedom. Hmmm..........

Good reasons but they don't get to the root of things.

1. It wouldn't matter if we could afford it. That's still no reason to do so.

2. If something is worth doing and it is done right right, blowback won't matter.

The true reason we don't need to police the world is that it's not our world to police.

Let the rest of them do what they will. They are all big boys and girls.

We should be focused on our own problems.

Anyone Crazy enough to blow themselves up for the "better or common good" needs to man the mission to mars... The U.S. Should hire Muslims to go on the 6 months journey and set up a station on mars

Thats all they seem to be good for neways imho.

The AlQaida is funded by the U.S. We destroy them, rebuild them, destroy them then rebuild them back up again to keep a war going over there

Theoretically I agree with you.

But when our country is directly attacked, as we were, then if we don't defend ourselves there will be more attacks and attempts to invade us.

Self-defense is justifiable.

That is, if you believe Al Qaeda was responsible for 9/11 and other prior acts of terrorism, like the first bombing of the World Trade Center, and if you believe Al Qaeda is sworn to destroy us.

I do.

The article says pretty much the opposite. Al Qaeda -- according to the article -- is doing everything it can to keep the U.S. engaged in Afghanistan. They want the war over there, not vice versa. Not saying that's the way it actually is, but it's food for thought.
