New jihad code threatens al Qaeda

www.cnn.com

The code's most direct challenge to al Qaeda is this: "Jihad has ethics and morals because it is for God. That means it is forbidden to kill women, children, elderly people, priests, messengers, traders and the like. Betrayal is prohibited and it is vital to keep promises and treat prisoners of war in a good way. Standing by those ethics is what distinguishes Muslims' jihad from the wars of other nations."

Wow...

Lately, I've been very disappointed by the manner in which the radical Islamic idea of Jihad has been allowed to steep within the super-ego of many lost souls.

This proves to be a positive step towards at the very least, acknowledging that these tactics do not help their cause... but are counter to their cause.

Leaders of one of the world's most effective jihadist organizations, the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG), have written a new "code" for jihad. The LIFG says it now views the armed struggle it waged against Col. Moammar Gadhafi's regime for two decades as illegal under Islamic law.

Not sure if this is a step forward or back....

But whatever they have to do to stop targeting civilians and the physical economy.

The code is only as good as the paper that its written on. I wish changing the mindset of the fanatics was as easy as scribbling a new code on a napkin or changing a light bulb.

I really don't think that al Quada is going to listen to another "organizations" codes!

Each one of theses "organizations' seem to have their own, shall we say, code of ethics and believe 100% in THEIR interpretation of jihad, of which there are a lot of different interpretations, some peaceful, some call for violence..

Even if Al Qaida does listen to this organization's code, there are several other terrorist organizations out there like Hamas and Hezbollah that may not heed it.

Each organization has it's own Imams and spiritual leaders whose job it is to interpret the Koran to best suit the needs of the organization and to justify thier deeds to thier followers. This code unfortunatley means bunk to Al-Qaeda or any other radical organization, and if anything may put a big bullseye on the interpreter and his organization.
