What would happen?
Surely it would be good? Except for the weapon manufacturers.
Is it possible that our self-predatory nature is part of the original design? Humans are free thinking, free roaming life forms that have an impact on
every level of their immediate environment. We have no 'niche' as it were, to slip in to. There are no natural predators out there that hold
dominion over us... unless they exist in the form of ET or something else that we are not readily aware of.
Wars interact with human evolution and progress in many ways. They reduce population at the same time, mandate advances in technology and medical
care. They destroy entire cities and nations but so too, lead to regrowth that is new and often improved over what was lost.
Wars also teach us lessons about our own inhumanity to man. We see the suffering, the waste and then, swear off of it until a few generations pass and
the lesson is repeated. The cycle of wars may be necessary because we just simply refuse to take those experiences of history and apply them to the
long term.
End of war? We might as well plow our fields under and move back into caves. As much as we know it is wrong to kill, we are driven to it like lemmings
to the cliffs...
Someday, if and when we do evolve enough that war is not needed to remind us of who and what we are, then maybe we will leave it all behind.
