[paraphrased from Obama speech]

We will pass an inclusive hate crimes bill, the House passed the bill again this week, after a decade this bill is set to pass, and I will sign it into law.

I will end "Don't ask, don't tell" in the military

Even if the bill isn't all it's lauded as it's still significant that he spoke up! Having the President of the United States on your side can sometimes be a plus lol

Would a moderator please change my title, should be Human Rights Campaign, rather the Human Rights Conference. Significant because it's the name of the organization.

Things like this is why he won the Nobel Peace Prize.

Sadly, many Republican/Conservative leaning people will see this not as an accomplishment, but something to be reviled.

This is where my frustrations and differences lie with man. He should stop holding it back and end dont ask dont tell. The military is a government funded organisations which takes my tax money and the taxes of gay individuals aswell along with other americans. Dont ask dont tell is unconstitutional and is a discrimminated to the very tax payers that funds it. This has to be lifted.

Yep!
This is great news. It's just one step, but it's a step toward equal protection under the law for ALL.

SG, they expect a bill in Congress next year. I know it's not soon enough, but there are some other things on the table right now.
His pledge is good enough for me.

Repeal Don't Ask Don't Tell
Repeal DOMA
Enact Civil Unions that are equal to marriage benefits. (I would prefer to legalize gay marriage, but if it's left up to the states, then I'm OK with that, too.)
