Global warming is happening - the poles are melting - but why are we so cold?

Here in NZ it is Spring, and we have winter temperatures.

Please explain?

Well, they've stopped calling it Global Warming and started calling it Climate Change instead. Why? because they haven't a bloody clue.
Could get warmer, could get colder, could stay the change
They can't predict the weather for tomorrow, what chance do they have for predicting it in 50/100 years time?

One of the reasons could be the amount of fresh water being put out by the poles as they melt. This changes the currents in the water as fresh water has a different density to salt water. If enough of it is pumped out it can slow the current, or even change the course.
Another reason is weather does strange things. Sometimes you get cold springs, sometimes warm springs. Sh!t happens basically!

Yes, # HAPPENS - I think we have to acknowledge this because it happens and it is horrible.

Hey, thanks for your answer.

As Daisy Lola said, it's being re-branded "climate change" as it's not a warming of certain parts, it's an overall change in climate. Some parts of the world will get warmer, some parts will get colder. It's the over all global temperature which is supposed to change.

The reason it is called Global Warming is because of greenhouse effect.and greenhouse effect happens when there is too much greenhouse has in the atmosphere.Greenhouse gas is used for trapping some of the sun's heat for the earth's warmth. And when there are too much Greenhouse gas, all of the sun's heat gets trapped inside the earth, causing the earth's temperature to rise. Greenhouse effect is normally caused by human activities such as burning fossil fuels

wiki.answers.com...

The reason why it is called Global Warming, when its actually getting colder, is because when the earths tempature is warmer, it causes the polar icecaps to melt, when these icecaps melt you have big iceburgs floating through the ocean, which is causing the ocean tempatures to drop, which in turn causes the tempature to drop as well, the bigger the iceburgs, the farther they can travel before melting and the colder the tempature can get, if a big iceburg is floating through the ocean, as it gets closer to shore, it causes the tempature on land to drop considerably, and can cause snowstorms and very cold tempatures.

Climate change AS ITS CALLED HEATS THE earths oceans causing the ocens to warm causing the ice caps to warm. When this part of climate change occures the OCEANS BECOME COOLED ALTERING OUR WARM OCEAN CURRENT WHICH BASICALLY CARRIES WARM WATER MANAGING WARM WEATHER. Once these currents are permanently altered the cool OCEANS COOL THE EARTH ALMOST CREATING A REVERSE ICE AGE.

HENCE THE NEW NAME CLIMATE CHANGE NOT GLOBAL WARMING FOR COOLING OCCURES ALSO
