I know this question has an obvious answer, and i guess thats the point. Why are there no comments sections under articles on MSM news sites? Could it be that these sites have so many viewers, that the ability to share viewpoints and personal opinions could undermine the messages they are attempting to portray?

What do you think?

Some do some don't. The ones that do make you question the intelligence of humanity when you read them. It is basically a drunken verbal brawl online.
You suck. F you, etc.

That is why.

In the UK most of MSM news sites have comments sections.
Quite often they criticise the newspaper, reporter and story.
It can only be a good thing for everyone in my opinion.

The Times
The Guardian
The Telegraph
The Independent
The Daily Mail
The Sun

If you don't like it, don't visit those sites that don't allow comments. Vote with your eyeballs. There are plenty of other places to get the news.
