What if the universe is like water and people are like water balloons floating in the ocean.
But instead of being only water, the universe is made up of energy, like light, heat, gravity, and magnetism.

Then instead of being a water balloon, we would be more like energy balloons and if we could focus enough, we should be able to make a ripple in the energy surrounding us.

Maybe we could even twist it as much as we want.

You certainly have been thinking a lot have'nt you?

Rather than ask people what the universe is, why not start with yourself?

I was once where you are at least I think and I am only offering a piece of advice that took me quite a lot of time to realise.

What your describing is the theory of Zero point energy

the nothing is really swarming with energy.the nothing is everything.. the zero point energy..particles created in pairs(pos and neg) in the past that borrow the energy from the future and annihilate each other in the present.

We are just made up of inert nothing.

We should be able to do cool things like telepethy, telekenesis, teleportation, or even television. jk

We could probably manipulate the elements of air earth fire and water by tying into the elements that tie us to them and controll the weather.

Not counting the energies of time and space.

The possibilities should be endless.
