UK has a free 'healthcare', its much better imho than american-one, i don't do doctors for pills, but in case of emergency they would sort you out whether you have money or no

Oh Lord.... It ISN'T "free". Unless you don't pay taxes.

Are we speaking of the public option or senator Baucus healthcare plan because I would think even many liberals would agree that it's a disastrous plan.

That's a good question. Obama hasn't even endorsed a plan.

Yes, Obama stay away from my medical records!
Get lost!

The Government having access to our medical records and lifestyle is
bad, but what's worse is that those who will be forced onto the Public
Option after their employer dumps them, or chooses the Public Option
voluntarily, must also grant the Government access to their financial
records/status as well. Imagine what all they can do with this information
in addition to your medical history records! Boggles the mind.

Consider this.. The Veteran's Administration medical care is run
similarly to the House Resolution 3200 (ObamaCare) Public Option.
If you Smoke, you are STRONGLY URGED to attend their Smoking
Cessation sessions, or other forms of "lifestyle correction" treatment.
If you are overweight, you are STRONGLY URGED to attend their
Nutritional Counseling sessions. If you choose not to, you have to
"sign off" on a document which essentially says that they told you
what was best and you declined to follow their advice. You will
still receive medical treatment, but you'll get the same STRONG
URGING each time you go to the V.A. for a physical or medical
care.

I "love" how the left went ape (and rightly so) over the Constitutional abuses of the Bush administration, but are mum when it comes to their side expanding government beyond anything we've seen thus far.

Not to mention their Dear Leader not getting rid of the Patriot Act, MCA, and a host of other things they were supposedly bothered by when Bush was in office.

Ofcourse, this isn't a suprise. The left in the US is just as hypocritical when it comes to issues their boy is doing as is the right.

THe voters aren't voting on this, though. Congress is. They are the ones who say whether this passes or fails.

This, a million times this. Remember folks you don't pick the laws, you only pick the retards who create them. The Democrats could very well accept that they are out a job next cycle and decide to shove this thing through irregardless of the people wanting it or not. All these town halls are just shows, there is no real discussion just chest beating and finger pointing. When they decide they want to pass it its done and no actions by the people will ever stop it.

Ofcourse it's theater. The Dems have a super majority. Thus, all the "the Repubs are blocking this" is crap.

And Congressmen/women answer to their constituents (the voters). If their reps/Senators vote on this when the majority of their constituents have said they don't want it, that Re/Senator will very likely find themselves not re-elected next term.

I think the town halls, the phone calls, letters are having way more of an effect than the media will ever let on. The reactions from people caught everyone off guard and Congress realizes that if they want to keep their jobs, they have to make the voters happy, not the president.

What he has done is impose gridlock by using rhetoric that makes him appear to be still campaigning, instead of leading the country.

They need to find some common ground in the health care debate, a majority agree with, and use it as a foundation to build on.

I think most agree we need...

1. Torte reform
2. Repealing the state laws that prevent individuals from purchasing plans accross state lines.
3. Allow those without access to group plans to form their own groups and lower the cost.

Instead, HR 3200, the Baucus bill and other bills have been filled with idealogical goals and not the will/good of the people.

Unfortunately, yes.

Also unfortunately, congress no longer pays attention to what the people in their districts say they want in poll after poll.

You probably think that's a good thing, right?

Free?

Surely you really do understand that your astronomical tax rates in the UK are what is funding your "free" healthcare?

That's exactly how socialism works. The government uses very high tax rates to fund the "nanny state".
