What if we governed ourselves?

Lets pretend for a moment, that government was non-existent. Every person tended to their own needs. Families were self sustaining, Farming crops and harvesting animals to feed themselves. All humanity worked together in peace, on projects that benefitted man kind. What one person lacked, another offered, without thinking of what he'd receive in return. Crime is smite by communities working together, If crime even exists at all. Everyone is equal. No one is your superior, as you are superior to no one. No bosses, no corporations, no president, no illuminati.

Why is this so impossible to comprehend. At this point in time it seems it is too late. But there are endless possibilities when like minds come together. What if normal people voted on laws. Normal citizens like you and I, who know what is good for each other, people who understand what it is like to live a NORMAL life, not a power mongering wealthy upper-class citizen life.

Someone needs to buy an island. Buy an island and give it to the people. Allow anyone to come, if they can find it. Work together to build a peaceful world, where class structure is obsolete. Give to eachother without expecting something in return. If i had the money i would do it in a heartbeat. To show the world it can be done. It will be done. One day it will be done and all will share my, my lord, our lords vision. You do not have to be religious to believe in a creator, a point of beginning, an absolute 0. I believe this is his vision and when the right time calls for it, It will be done for all to embrace.

These increasing occurrences, these lessons these, "awakenings", will one day prove to us all, that we can agree, see eye to eye and accept what is meant to be.

hello new member.

Before others argue other-wise, I will say that I agree with you.

I spent time in a place where there was no real government. No one stole from each other or killed each other. Why? Because the whole town would burn the thief/murderer alive. It's a good way to keep crime down.

On a larger scale it might not work, especially with today's military technology. Some neighboring country would try taking over, and the non-government-area would need to create a government to protect itself, and therefore creating a country, at least to protect its borders.

But on a small-scale, it would definitely work! Let me know where, I'll join, or we can create it together. Islands are expensive, but you might be able to find some cheap land in a third-world country somewhere, dig a canal all around it, and make your own island.

Help without questioning what we will get in return?

You ever think there might be some who will continually ask for help with never giving anything in return? Or having any thankfulness?

You speak of Utopia. It is easy to say "What if things were perfect" bad they are not, and when we try to make it perfect, bad things happen. We need to make things better, because we are not giants and can not take 50 steps at once.

there's an awful lot of misguided people on this site that claim they have had an alien encounter but you stand out to me as very probably alien!
i quote 'we can all live in peace with one another etc' have you actually met the human race or are you familiar at all with their nature - they are greedy selfish &*"% holes who have no interest in the needs of others, you are from planet la la land i am sure

That would be perfect until some idiot came along and thought disrupting the flow would be more fun and profitable. We would have to set up some kind of system to deal with trouble-makers and threats.

I think what you are describing is Anarchy in it's true meaning I think it sounds workable but history has shown other country's don't tolerate it. If it shows any success it will be overthrown I guess it scares Governments around the world.

I can't remember that much about the examples I'm thinking of unfortunately but I'm pretty sure it would never be allowed to get off the ground.

Past and present anarchist communities

You're probably thinking of Spain in the years before Franco's fascist takeover.

I'm partial to Anarcho-socialist myself. The Kibbutz in Israel are good examples that anarchy is possible even within a free market system.

OP, before you let anyone piss on your parade, ask them to name a successful capitalist system. I seriously doubt they'll be able to provide you with one such example.

Most "ism" can be considered Utopian. Communism, Capitalism, Anarchism, Socialist.... etc. none of them work as they are met to in the real world.

Ahhhhhhhh a Utopia ... what bliss.

Unfortunately, it is impossible.

Even the idea of having laws will start to put some people above others, those that uphold the law will see themselves above those that do not and thus your equality will start to crack and that crack will crack even more until you are left with society today.

A pecking order is natural to humans. Some people simply need a boss to answer to because they cannot function on their own. There will always be the alpha-male concept because that is ingrained into our existence.

One day it will be done and all will share my, my lord, our lords vision. You do not have to be religious to believe in a creator, a point of beginning, an absolute 0. I believe this is his vision and when the right time calls for it, It will be done for all to embrace.

Sorry but no Utopia can be a reality with religion. Religion, I personally feel, is where everything started to go wrong. With religions comes prophets and thus your equality once again has been shattered because people will look up to that person, yada yada yada.

Religion will ruin your Utopia.

We can live like this, and we should!! One day, we will be living like this. I promise you. We do not need to be goverened (to be goverened is like saying, I'm just a child, and need governance) WE DON'T!! We are adults, we are men and women, and we are free from the system should we choose to be so. (you have to have your birth certificate destroyed first, but it is possible to escape the laws/acts of the land. )

We have a long period of peace coming up, it's profesized, and there's nothing getting in the way of profecy, I can assure you. Between now and 2015 (the 7 years it takes from 2007 since the blue star arrived, completing one mayan profecy) It is coming, we shall be free. maybe not in this life, but we will know pure freedom and love.

Keep up the vibes, and live from the heart. You know what is right, and do not need to be told. Stay with love, and you shall know true freedom, away from the evil of goverments.

COMMON LAW, that is ALL you need. And that is all that truly matters.

I like this thought alot.

If there is no government, there is no money, meaning people would not do this for jobs, and homes. They would do it for survival, and peace. No robbers, because there is nothing really to rob. No foreclosure, since everyone will have a home!

Seems improbable, but still a utopia nevertheless.

All things considered there will always be some one who wants all the power in the world. Some will take it to the point of war and murder to gain that power. We've seen it since the beginning of written history. There is a 0% that we will ever be a selfgoverned society, atleast in our lifetime and our childrens (born or not at this time).

"It will be done. One day it will be done and all will share my, my lord, our lords vision. "

So you are saying that everyone on will have to bow to the "Lord"so to speak and follow the "Lord" so to speak.

Hmmmmm, I see a problem with your perfect world already, what happens to the people who dont belive in your god, lord or what have you?

As one poster has said , Religion has to go before we can even begin to live in peace as a whole.

That being said I stared and flaged you since I belive we will at some point in the future need to live this way , I think it will be generations away though as we at the persent are so intrenched in the need for "money" "Ego" that we wont change unless some major event happens....2012 ?

Granted..this is fiction; however, whenever I see a presentation of this scenario, I am
always reminded of"The Lord of the Flies".
This pack of humanity still requires an alpha leader.
Therein lies the problem. One is ordained, either by brute force or due process.
Another wants that chair..the rumblings begin.
As of date; these rumblings have not ceased.

Sureness of self is the key.
