Went to the Bristol museum to see the Banksy Summer Exhibition:
This was my view:

Banksy at The Bristol Museum: This is a Queuing Opportunity

What is your view on Banksy ("the urban graffiti artist") and his work? Does he still have "it"?

I disagree with the dude above.

This: farm1.static.flickr.com...

is THE image of the 20th century in my view....

I think this thread'll get banhammered to BTS but I respect Banksy, especially the way he manages to affect millions of people while remaining anonymous.

Peace

Yes, I agree, Banksy is a treasure, I hope he remains with us and remains anonymous for many many days to come. He is one of the most legitimate examples of true modern art.

Good choice, but also in the same vein perhaps this also reflects todays values. Link

He has captured an aspect of UK society that rarely gets publicly aired. This country in places is grimy, horrible and colourless turning those scenes into smart and colourful art is incredibly nice to see. From my perspective he produces some stunning work and he deserves the credit he gets. Urban decay is rife in the UK and its getting worse, anything that's colourful, artistic and has a message gets a thumbs up from me.

Fantastic !!

His sculptures are great, now he has some money in his pocket for the stone and marble his work plays out better. I still do like his winston churchill and did buy one of his queen victoria prints years ago.

Tweety pie looks very disturbing..what was that like in the gallery?

and I do like his "take" on other works of art esp the altered paintings.

Thanks seamjay,

he does tend to look after his hometown of Bristol by giving the best shows there.
