US Girl Scouts prepare for war, pestilence

WASHINGTON (AFP) – The United States wants to enlist its 3.4 million Girl Scouts in the effort to combat hurricanes, pandemics, terror attacks and other disasters.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) launched a campaign Tuesday to entice the blue, brown and green-clad multitudes to be even more prepared, with the promise of a new patch if they pitch in.

The young scouts will be able to emblazon their sashes or vests with the patch if they undergo the training which readies them for an emergency.

This may just look like a great outreach program between America's Girl Scouts (they do more then sell cookies) and our lovable DHS (insert sarcasim) but I think this may just be a little more indoctrination targeting our youth.

It wasn't that long ago that the White House was asking each of us to let the WH know if we were "distorting or confusing the Health Care facts".

Not that long ago that the President and the NEA thought it would be a great idea to ask our nation's greatest resource how it could help the greatest President in our nation's history (I threw up a little in my mouth just now) and then have the teachers hold the students accountable for those promises. This was almost able to play out except the idiot right-wingers didn't allow BHO to put his whole foot in his mouth.

I wonder why the Boy Scouts of America wasn't asked to participate. Guess their popcorn isn't as liked as the GS cookies. Does anyone remember another nation, maybe some years back, that targetted the youth of that nation to become almost a "civil action force"?

I'm not a racist, not a hater of BHO as a person but I despise what he stands for, who he stands with and who he turns his back on. Let BHO be known as the final straw that made a revolution possible.

Very glad my little ones are not doing the whole girl guides thing. I doubt it will be very long before the boy scouts are recruited too.

A youth civillian force as large and well funded as the military. I don't think that is odd in the least.

Well hurricanes, pandemics and terrorists attacks are the things that are going on today. I think it's funny how people will take little things that are going on and compare them to actions that Nazi Germany was doing. That is one giant leap if you would ask me. In a time of dire need I think everybody wishes there was something they could do to help. I guess there are some folks that would like to hide out or run for the hills.

Basically, the point of the matter is that the girls scouts are not preparing for war. Nobody would be the stupid; the girls scouts are preparing to do what they can to help out their community in a time of need. In a time of disaster ever little bit counts and these girls are getting training to do that little bit.

Who knows, maybe I am just a some national pride extremist.

I am sorry, but these sort of progams are part of the "Progressives" aka "Democratic Agenda" and once also known as the "Socialist/Communist agenda", yet you want to blame "rightwingers" somehow?....

The right wasn't puting a gun on the Left's heads to implement this sort of programs, in fact these sort of programs are always claimed to be "for the good of the whole".

Now that you are seeing a taste of the "Progressives" aka Democrats and yes aka Socialist agenda and still there are people claiming this has nothing to do with any political party, or political agenda?

BTW, yes there are Republicans who are mostly RINOs, just want to be rich and powerful and also back this sort of programs, but that is not, and never was supposed to be the Republican agenda, or how the Republic was meant to be.

This inability by those who back the"Progressive/Democrat/Socialist" agenda to see the root of the problem is what causes for the same sort of dictatorships to take over entire nations and ruin the lives of most people.

This same "Progressive" movement caught many Cubans thinking these "CHANGES" that the self proclaimed Socialists were bringing gave ALL the power to the state which was done "in the name of the people", and tha tit was going to be great for everyone since everyone would have the same things, everyone would be paid the same amount of money, everyone would have so called free healthcare, etc, etc.

But the truth is that this consolidates the power so the Socialist elite have all the power, and the "people" are just pawns for the "cause".

The same thing happened in Germany, Russia, Vietnam China, etc, etc, in some countries the changes were more bloodied than on others but at the end the result was the same.

Do you actually think that the "rich elite" doesn't like the idea of consolidating all the power, and for them to be the sole rulers "in the name of the people"?

This is exactly what they want, and because many people continue to buy into the "Progressive movement" which was once known as the "Socialist/Communist movement" this sort of take over by the elite will continue happening with the consent of many people until they realize too late what is going on.

I have continued to see some members claim that the elite wants us to fight among ourselves and that it has nothing to do with any political ideology, but the truth of the matter is that this is exactly how they separate us by filling the heads of as many people as possible about the "worker's paradise". But of course most people who buy into this sort of political ideology just buy the claims that "it will be the best for the people" but for some reason they can't seem to realize that by the STATE having all the power, in the name of the people, the state becomes a dictatorial machine.

"Individual rights" are as important as "group rights". When you start allowing individual rights to be lost there will always be one group that will take over and proclaim "they are working for the people", and as long as people keep believing this, and keep allowing the abolition of individual rights nations will continue falling for the lies of the "rich Socialist elite."

err...the girl scouts, or any other civilian group should never be used to "fight terrorism", more so since the DHS, and Janet Napolitano herself with the blessings of the Obama administration labelled most Americans as "possible terrorists" and the president wants to make lawful programs like the indefinite detention programs even if people don't commit any crimes.

BTW, i am not saying that all the people who subscribe to Socialism, or even the Progressive movement, or are Democrat are "evil elitists", but the "evil elitists" play on the good intentions of people to consolidate power for them, which they will continue claiming "is for the good of all".

Girl Scouts from Daisy Troop 2068 toured the 83rd Chemical Battalion motorpool March 25. Soldiers outfitted Scouts in vests, helmets and guns and showed them how to safely clear a house.

I think its funny how people can see a duck, hear it quack like a duck and it walks like a duck but still call it a swan. Can you tell me why girl scouts would need to wear helmets and learn to clear a house to help their community? I guess when those customers who ordered 5 boxes of cookies and only pay for 4, they can shake the customer down like a pro....

I have no problem with the GS getting training on first aid or surviving off the land. But I have a problem when DHS is TRAINING them with weapons and armor. When did the GS need to know how to break down and assemble their AR15's?

I think there may have been some misunderstanding in my position. I was calling out the republicans for jumping the gun and calling BHO out instead of letting him make the wrong speach and THEN calling him out. By jumping the gun, the republicans lost all momentum in getting more luster to break loose from BHO. I don't find myself to be for or against either party (dem/rep) at the moment as both seem dead-set on forking themselves and sinking the nation.
