The Spurs contend that the clock started too late and Derek Fisher's winning shot for the Lakers should not count.
"I think it definitely started late," Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich said in his postgame press conference.
There were 0.4 seconds left when Gary Payton inbounded the ball to Fisher.
"If you look at the replay, he brings (the ball) from his waist all the way up to his shot," said Devin Brown. "Everybody's thinking the shot
shouldn't have counted."
It's highly unlikely that the league will overturn the ruling on the floor, but the Spurs' management felt strongly enough to file the written
protest.
