BRUSSELS (AFP) – The World Trade Organisation has ruled that Europe's Airbus benefited from illegal subsidies, US and European officials said Friday.

and

Another European source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said: "From our reading of this report 70 percent of the US claims have been rejected."

However, government grants were ruled illegal, he added.

"That'll have an impact for the next case," the source claimed.

Another WTO ruling is pending on the EU's tit-for-tat complaint against Washington over US state aid to Boeing, which is being dealt with by the Geneva-based trade body separately.

so , in the first instance the money given to airbus for there aircraft has been ruled `illegal` - but the second part is the big one - the same result will also be applied to boeing later on this year with the EU vs boeing case about the `developement` grants` given to them

Meh.

It'll make no difference.

The whole thing will be reciprocated next year when they rule on the case against Boeing/US govt.

Yeah its a done deal anyway. What are they going to do? I mean can you really apply a penalty for an aircraft that is in service already?

And Airbus has already stated that it will still take launch aid sorry "below market loans" for the A350 no matter what the results of the ruling was anyway.

Sounds like bad news for the US Air Force then since we know how business works.
