Do we really have such an animal here in the US?
Reason I am asking, I was reading this story
"Survivors condemn hijacker in Pan Am massacre"

And the judge made the following statement

"Sullivan expressed strong support and drew applause from onlookers when he promised he would recommend lifelong "solitary confinement in a facility that essentially is under ground."

I know that the word "essentially" can be taken many ways, but a search I did resulted in nothing for sure.

Anyone else ever heard of an active underground prison in US soil?

There are tons of underground facilites in the United States, and the world. Also, I am sure that there has to be some underground Prisions, technically wouldn't the basment of a prison count?

Anyhow, take places like S-4, and Dulce that are either mostly/completley underneath the ground, and are rumored to be Top Secret facilities, so shouldn't they have some kind of holding the Brig on a ship?

Just my thoughts...I'll see if I can find anything else out on Google.
