I'm going to add that the highest point in the contiguous 48 states of USA is less than 80 miles from the lowest point in the North American
continent... Mount Whitney being the highest in the lower 48 of the US at over 14K feet (Denali / Mount McKinley of Alaska being the highest point in
North America at over 20K feet) and Badwater / Death Valley being the lowest at more than 280 feet below sea level.
