You're right, and under the Patriot Act, they have no need to "alert" any business that they are monitoring their traffic. It's simply logged and then reviewd by "Cyber Command" later on.

They also use webots quite consistently to bring out trends in the speak for particular websites and emails.

So I doubt SO would be doing this for that reason.

Isn't it funny that we automatically assumed the government did something?

I've already contacted every cookie factory I can think of, and they ain't talking.

In response I've email Alex Jones and the guys from C2C, expect full coverage tonight.

Well some assumed the government's hand, I didn't because I know the technology involved. Now just to wait for mod confirmation about my theory.
