Riot Police Raid Birthday Party

Riot police stormed a man's 30th birthday barbecue for 15 guests because it was advertised as an "all-night" party on Facebook.

Four police cars, a riot van, and a force helicopter were dispatched to a privately-owned field in a small village near Sowton, Devon in the UK on Saturday, ordering the party shut down or everyone would be arrested.

Despite the ridiculous invasion of privacy, one has to wonder how the authorities got wind of this event if it was a facebook posting. Not only that, but severe overkill for something that is harmless in nature (rave).

I wonder if these things are conducted on a regular basis or what. All I know is that we have raves where police frequent to make sure there isn't anything bad going on. But to have riot police show up for something as little as "all-night" in a facebook event is absurd.
