Obama: Time To 'Stop Clinging To' Unworkable Health Care System

President Barack Obama says he recognizes the heavy price tag of revamping the health care system but that it would be much more costly to do nothing.

I can’t believe the out in out lies that this man is passionately telling the country. Let me ask you a question, “Do you have health insurance?” Most employed people here in the US do. The polls show that most of us actually like the coverage we have, though we think it’s too expensive. And why is it too expensive? The drain on the health care system is primarily from insurance costs to doctors, a result from the billions in malpractice litigations, and the other and most costly drain on our health care system is the millions of illegal aliens who fill our emergency rooms every day, who have no money, who have no insurance, who are here against the law and don’t pay taxes. How hard is it to understand? If we sent these people home, our schools, our hospitals, our welfare system would get some much needed relief. But for some reason both democrats and republicans don’t see the need to send them home. I don’t know what it’s like on the east coast but here on the west coast we actually have government agencies such as the DMV and the unemployment offices helping these people get benefits and licenses…knowing full well that they are illegal, but those serving in those agencies are forbidden to question these peoples citizenship or legality! You might be able to tell from my thread that I pretty mad, and I know many of you out there are too. This health care reform that is being shoved down our throats isn’t something that the majority of American’s want and recent declining poll numbers for the president prove my point. The result of this nanny state that Obama is trying to create will be high taxes, a new privileged government class (don’t believe me, read Soviet history), while stifling creativity and innovation that built this country into the world leader.

The only thing about health care that makes it "unworkable" is that the Obama administration cant control it as they wish. It doesn't fit their current fascist socialist vision of the future.

It's that stupid goddamned vote thing that is standing in their way, and all of those people clinging to their dying freedom and liberty... They just can't let go.

Shut up Americans, get out of our way, we are going to do this whether you like it or not.

He actually said today that people should not listen to those who are speaking out on this.

Open wide everyone, Obama has something new to shove down your throats, and when done open your wallets because he is going to take your money.

I had insurance prior to being laid off. Two years ago I had awesome insurance and every insurance prior to that was great. I am not sure when we had to start paying more for services- but it sure doesn't seem like that long ago.

If something happens now- I go to the ER and I send them a check monthly until paid off. Heck, I am still paying for a visit last year. Yes, there are people without health insurance, that seems like it would be a motvational tool to get a better job with benefits if that is an issue. If they cannot get a better job from lack of skills- there are always other choices- find a way. I do not want to pay taxes on my medical coverage to pay for a Government program.

I am going to cling to my guns, religon and healthcare and anything else that I still have that is American.

Couldn't agree more, but prepare for a flaming. There's apparently a large number of people out there who believe that simply because they exist, they are entitled to health care at the expense of others. They like to delude themselves and call it 'free' health care, but I'm telling you here and now, what you are doing is looting. You're sending government thugs in the form of tax collectors to do you stealing for your. There's no such thing as a free luch, and I don't owe you a damn thing.

Edit because my brain and fingers often don't sync.

Good for you!

Big government controlling every aspect of the economy, the financial institutions and now health care means that we will have to deal with government bureaucracy in EVERY aspect of our lives.

Our constitution and the founding of our nation clearly mandated only limited government intrusion into our lives. I'm sure our founding fathers would see what is going on now as nothing more or less than the rebirth of tyranny over the people of this country.

People you should not want this government running anything but the government period, they should not be involved in the things they are getting involved in, they should not be owning and running banks, financial institutions, the auto industry, and now health care?

It is too much power, it is a power grab, and it is going to cost trillions more on top of the trillions already spent, and planned spending which is all deficit spending.... The interest alone is going to be almost a trillion per year soon on that debt. But they don't care... Once they control everything they can do whatever they want.

Cap and trade will also give them a huge bump in revenues while finally crushing that last bit of life left in the free market capitalist system. Their ultimate victory!

Health care reform is just a step in their grand plan!

Go back to sleep America... Don't listen to the voices of dissent, we are really doing all of this for you, and to rebuild a better America!

Imagine a sales person coming to your house trying to sell you a better product than the one you currently have. The person promises you that it will save you money in the long run. However, the product is still in the early process stage.

Now imagine that the person tells you that your current product is outdated, inefficient, and too costly. And that the product that they are selling you will be top notch. However, they are unwilling to give you a guarantee that their product will live up to what the sales person is preaching.

Finally, you ask for details about the product like size, availability, true cost, savings, safety, regulations, guidelines. However, the person is unable to give you answers because once again the product is still in its infancy stages.

Now imagine you are aware that the company that sells this product has a few subsidiaries on the verge of collapse, recent history of mismanagement, inability to listen to its consumers, a I don't care attitude, leaders who look after each other rather than the people who have put them in their position.

Would you buy that new product or keep the old one?

This is the way I view Obama's healthcare plan. I am not against getting everyone covered. I just think that in the long run this plan will be unsustainable and a heavy tax burden on the US taxpayers.

Well imagine that. First I was clinging to my guns and my religion. Now I'm clinging to my healthcare. Is this twit for real or what?

The actual price would be as much as next years budget. We are being spent into oblivion. Yes, i think there should be changes to welfare and change some of the requirements to provide healthcare for those who can't afford it but don't FORCE everyone to use the health care. YOu want to know government run healthcare? Just look at our veteran's care!

Here is an idea Obama, how about quit clinging to your idiotic illogical ideas, and leave people alone. I'm tired of waking up every Monday morning to hear about how your shoving more insane polices down out throats that end up coming out our rear ends to grab our wallets.

I want to pay for my own health care. We know what is best for us, not our government!

Why don't you (Obama motor health czar) stop free health care for our 30Million illegal aliens on US soil and ship the illegals that are filling up our prisons which get free food, dental, medical, cable, shackles..... back home off our soil.

When I was laid off, there went my insurance. Thank heaven I am healthy(knock on wood). I still foot the bill for my scripts and Dr visits out of my pocket. I hope to have health insurance again soon, Not Obama Insurance!

You all are clinging to an outdated, unworkable constitution. It must be eliminated in order to advance this nation into the new socialist global order, so STOP clinging to the past and look to the future with us, whether you like it or not we are going to make these changes, you can either join us through your cooperation and obedience, or you will become totally irrelevant and unnecessary. We can do this together, the easy way, or the hard way. That choice is up to all of you to make.

Yes, we WILL!

The unworkable health care system that doesn't care about anyone's health. The unworkable system that makes natural healing, herbal knowledge and alternative care crimes as horrific as late term abortion or assisted suicide. The unworkable system that puts people in debt by the cost of education, the cost of pharmaceuticals, the cost of malpractice insurance, the cost of specialists and the costs go on. Health care is no longer about a personal desire to help others in pain, it is all about PROFIT. Fix that and you've fixed the unworkable Health Care System! Our elected officials need to stop trying to avoid and evade common sense.

Get yourself a good book on herbs and their properties, you'll then understand why natural remedies are the enemy of the unworkable Health Care System. I recommend The Master Book of Herbalism by Paul Beyerl that can be purchased at the link. Once you've read it, you'll get it!

We don't need Universal health care. Americans already pay for the uninsured and you just need to add 2 free physicals per year for the uninsured and if they want a check up they can pick up a voucher and get a physical.

You can do this through a nationally recognized charity or government can send the vouchers. This will only cost a few billion vs a trillions thrown down a black hole.

A Doctor said the key is prevention. We have a good health care system we just need to provide physical for the uninsured and this will go along way towards prevention because we can catch diseases and problems that occur early. Many uninsured wait until the last minute to see the Doctor because they don't have insurance. Two physicals per year would really help.

The real problem is Medicaire. When the economy is picking up heath care costs will go up. This means Medicare prices will go up. Instead of cutting spending the democrats want to slow the economy even more by artificially bringing down health care cost. They don't want to reform the system because it's a cash cow to them. They want to destroy the economy further to try and save Medicare. We can save Medicare by reforming the system instead of destroying the economy.

i don't see the big deal over free medical care.

we all pay tax's.
and 90% of the one's that don't pay tax's are the MOTHER of YOUR children.
AKA housewife's.

if you entire argument to socialized health care is you ritch don't want to help the poor..
that's sad in itself.

Do we run around calling canada socialist nazi scum bag's?no we don't.

Personally myself i am tired of working 2 job's for 7 dollar's a hour..
just to pay bill's and tax's and food and diaper's.

When i got a failing heart that i CAN NOT even afford to go see a specialist!!!
2 major heart attack's..
only medical care a person with 2 job's can afford is a family doctor..who give's ya pill's...and say's you really need to see a specialist before it get's worse.
Ironic if ya ask me.

So what's wrong with EVERYONE getting EQUAL medical care in America?
not one dang thing ...accept the rich will have to pay more tax's.
and they can't take it with em.
and the tax they will get back at the end of the year in the form of a tax return.
rich people dodge tax's by giving money to charity's.
for the tax break.
So why fuss about a charity that help's your country out more.

Obama is a moron, been manipulated by big interest as any other president in power.

His health care reform will not work and will never pass in congress.

The cost has gone up since he first started to promote it, now almost 2 trillion dollars.

Just like Bushes SS reform this will be just another big idea that never will be.

But he is so charismatic and charming and such a great talker I guess we never know how the sheep will react at the end

Another thing he is not even going after the 40% percent of those that have not health care in the nation, he is going after those that already pay for health care and businesses.

Wait, if you could tell me how Obama's health care ideas would make my already affordable health care remain at the same or even improve the quality and lower the cost let me know!

You telling the people in this thread, who can afford their health care and can see that it is the best health care in the world available, that they "have absolutely no idea what you are talking about" doesn't really help us to see the problem with our current system.......

I find it odd that a Country requiring mandatory community funded education as a basic right thinks health care is somehow less worthy.

What your talking about is already covered by taxpayer's dollars with Medicaire.

This problem can be fixed by a Nationally Recognized Health Care Charity and you don't have to waste and spend trillions of dollars.

This Health Care charity will pay for 2 free physicals a year and any follow ups needed. We can also start a catostrophic health care fund for the patients out there who have serious problems and need alot of medicine.

We don't need Government running and ruining our health care system by taxing people to death.
