who cares if she actually did work. The first lady doesn't get paid.

Funny how much people expect of someone who spends insane amounts of time doing work for free.

While i seen the head line i thought she was abducted by some aliens or went down to some underground base or had a quick flight into mexico.
But i was disappointed she went to feed the homeless and this was reported by Fox News..cool, so umm, could some one ask Fox News what brand of toilet paper she uses ?

The real answer should be so what?

Who cared how many houses McCain had? The left.

Who cared how much Palin's clothes cost? The left.

Who is the first to scream bloody murder when Mrs. Messiah....errr I mean Obama is criticized for the cost of her accessories? The left.

If FOX News doesn't criticize the Obamas......who will? Surely not the "enchcanted" drive-by media.

You would be surprised how much people spend on Nikes. Hundreds.
In fact, Nike now even constantly issues liimited editions that people wait hours in line for and spend hundreds of dollars on.

The difference is you expect to pay a designer a lot of money, but Nike used Indonesian child labor they pay 5 bucks a week.

Seriously. Who cares. So, she has zero taste in shoes (im a shoe addict, I know
). And Im sure she either paid for them out of her pocket or they were donated to her so the designer's name would be linked to a high profile celebrity. Either way, who gives a crap.

I wonder how many people who have issue with this, have logged off ATS to go down and volunteer at your local shelter? Hmmmm.

I'm willing to bet those ugly shoes were probably made by the same child laborer working for slave wages.

Ya know... You just can't win.

Everyone is trying to push people to respect the woman for volunteering.
I feel offended. She is being portrayed to be this wonderful, giving, caring woman... While everyone else is supposed to feel like a greedy, uncaring bastard because they cannot afford to volunteer. They definitely cannot afford to donate food, when they are working the overtime and still coming up short for the house payment.

"OMG You need to respect her because she works for FREE!"

Probably because she is rich as hell, and wants to make the rest of us feel like greedy crap because trying to come up with bill money leaves us with too little time and energy for helping others.

No, I have no respect for her. She would have been more help making a donation. Food pantries are too short on donations to help feed families.

While in my observation of people I know, the unemployed friend I have who cannot afford to live, is the one volunteering at the homeless shelter.

Funny how those who have the least, are the ones that help the most.

I'm sorry that we are falling for this crap, but that is all stories like this are.

We all know that the Limousine Liberals don't care about the poor at all, unless they can get something from them.

What we really need to be asking ourselves is "Why is the President telling us Chrysler is going bankrupt"? Shouldn't Chrysler be announcing this?

I guess during the last 100 days we got "Change we Can't believe is happening."

Um, she was supposed to be volunteering. In order for her time to mean anything, actual work should have been done. If not, then it was a self-serving photo-op.

It's an unfair criticism to fault the first lady for her choice of footwear in this situation.

She is doing volunteer work and her shoes are appropriate for such a task. She can afford to wear expensive sneakers.

It's silly nitpicking like this that detracts from the good that people do.

Personally, I would have never guessed that those shoes retailed for so much, nor do I suspect that of those whom she served that day.

Her husband and their political party use class envy as their number one tool to defeat Republicans. By no means should she be criticized for wearing expensive shoes. But her/their arguments favoring socialism should be recognized for what they are - the height of hypocrisy.

Ever wonder why people like the Kennedy's and the Obama's who run on a political platform of wealth redistribution are so rich? Because the wealth they are working on redistributing is everyone else's, not their's.

Because she used campaign money instead of her own money. That is the difference. I woudln't expect my campaign contribution to go to a jacket set for a vp candidate, or the candidate.

And whose to say Michelle's shoes were not a gift?

If she didn't dress well, you folks would be all over her for not having any class.

Find something worthy to complain about. This is really starting to nitpick.

The clothes Palin bought with campaign money was for the campaign and they were donated to charity after the campaign ended.

My $30 sneakers last about 1.5 years do these things last decades?

30$ sneakers? :O
That's just insane.
That would feed my family for over a week!
My 4Euro sneakers last a good 2 years - and I don't have a car - they take me everywhere...

wow

And if you believe THAT, jd.....

I seem to remember the local Juneau, AK press running a story shortly after the election, 2008. It involved a spreading out of all the clothes in the Palin household, as she and the family decided just WHAT to donate to charity, or return to the RNC (??) or to keep.

'course, just sayin'...one COULD donate to, say...'GoodWill'...anonymously, then go back and buy it off the rack, 'anonymously'.

Just sayin'.

But, I wouldn't accuse Mrs. Palin of that. In fact, it seems the wardrobe purchased for her from Neiman Marcus wasn't really her taste in clothes, anyway.

BUT, this is about the First Lady, Michelle Obama. AND her choice of footwear, that SHE paid for with her own money. Or, with Family finances, but sin't that what families do??

To the OP: Would you prefer she walk in to help the poor wearing six-inch pumps???

Really....a pathetic thread, should die a quick death.

(can't help, one last idea....ever heard of Discount Stores? In NYC there is a store called 'Daffy's', where you can find all sorts of designer labels on footwear and clothing at steep discounts....)

WoW.
$540- it should come with snow tires or coupla box sets of kung fu movies or something. Dang.

That's alot of scratch 4 a pair of kicks.

I just scored a pair of ol'skool Pony's @ Marshall's for twenty bux.

.....but that's not what I was interested in. Did you see her shins?
Either she low-crawled there, or she shaves her legs with broken whiskey bottles.

The White House did not return a message seeking comment.
(visit the link for the full news article)

I liked this part of the article haha. Like the White House has time to answer questions concerning the first lady's shoes...

Those shoes are fresh!
She could put them on Ebay and they would be bid up to $5000 just because they have First Lady smell in them.
