Oh no
thats a big one - especially being that shallow and in that area....so much historical (old) infrastructure.

It is 4:15am there right now, when everyone is at home in bed. I hope no major injuries have occurred and no deaths and not too much damage

Another source. It is saying 4.0:

Haha I love it.

Not in a sadistic way.

Just been a heck of a month with action going on.

Thanks for reporting so quickly, GJ. StFl.

So the third one eh'. Is it me, or are there more and more earthquakes occuring?? I know I could just be more aware of them now, since i'm taking notice, but maybe there are more occuring...?

Your source is from an earlier time I believe. This is a more recent one, the dates are different, its monday in italy.

I have RSOE page up all the time, and my equake monitor for firefox.

Over the last 6 months Europe have had hundreds of quakes above 4 mag that never see the light of day on the news.

But this is a biggie... 4.63 km (2.88 miles) from Borbona

The mag 4 was earlier in the evening...

edit to add last sentence.

The date says April 5th. It is April 5th there now. Not sure what they say "Sunday" but it is for this earthquake.

I think that a lot... So do a lot of people.

In all honesty you could pull up historic data and I reckon all the quakes would pretty much average out - I don't think there is any major change or anything of that nature. I'd say you (and me and others) are simply paying attention to this sort of fast paced reporting and that sticks better in our memory.

That's a substantial quake - hope injures are very few.

I see monday? Maybe i'm wrong......

I think there are, maybe leading up to a pole shift, that would certainly be SHingTF.

Earthquakes, probably scare me as much as Volcanoe eruptions, or more, there pretty hard to predict, and there's really no place to run and hide, you're not guarenteed the ground you stand on!!

Oh dear. Reports coming in from reporters that quite a few buildings have come down in L'aqualia (hope I've spelt it right) SE of epicentre.

Hope they get the people out.. Would hate to be caught under a building in the darkness...

In response to the question are there more earthquakes occuring now?

The numbers of quakes have gone up over the past 10 years I've been watching them, but more interestingly, the magnitudes are all much higher now than what I was looking at years ago.

There used to be between 6 and 10 quakes larger than magnitude 7 each year but now the earth has them far more frequently. Unfortunately, the USGS page showing recent activity over magnitude 7 hasn't been available for a couple of years now so I'm not easily able to give you the number so far this year... it would be over 6 already this year, and climbing.
