Ive been watching the news all day and I hear on every station from Fox News to MSNBC to CNBC that these riots are Anti Capitalist riots. Why am I having a hard time believing the media. I think these riots are anti international banking cartel riots and for sound money. Am I wrong? Is there anyone in the UK who went to the rallies who can tell me because I think the media is spinning these rallies from the real cause. These guys want to make these guys out to be a bunch of evil anarchists who want violence and hate free markets. Where am I wrong here?

Honestly just go look on Youtube for more information. The Media here in the US is very biased.

2nd line in protest.

Im watching hardball and I just heard the first and I mean the first person admit the riots were mainly targeted at the bankers. Now this to me makes more sense than these people rioting over free market or capitalism. Obviously there was a whole host of different protests over the Gaza war etc.

You can also stream BBC and Sky News from their websites - I was watching their coverage of the protests, and they seemed quite even-handed.

Also: please tell the woman in your avatar that sashimi is meant to be cut into small pieces before serving.

It was more an anti whatever demo.

There was no Clash between police and protestors just a bit of pushing and shoving by a load of middle class socialist types.
A total non event.
There's plenty of youtube footage of the shenanigans but notice how many press photographers are presnt. The initial "attack" on the RBS branch is very obviously a set up, no police at all, a large gap in front of the windows, surrounded by the press. There's more trouble at most small towns in the Uk on Friday or Saturday than there was today.

If it wasn't for the incompetance of this government I would have said they'd set the whole thing up themselves to distract attention from their own "expenses" theiving.

A totally pathetic waste of time. The lefties have won, time to leave the UK.

I was thinking the same thing as the OP.

I watched a few of the 'news' reports from bbc, cbc, sky, and some Australian broadcasts, and they kept refering to the protesters as anti-capitalists. I had to do a double take, because that made absolutely no sense. These people are protesting AGAINST the anti-capitalist bailouts that all of the governments and banks are involved in. It is anti-capitalist to interfere with the free markets by handing out billions--err, trillions--of dollars to failing corporations.

The other thing that made my jaw drop was when the newscaster said that "MANY of these protesters are willing to resort to violence to spread their message." C'mon, that is not true! Especially considering the clip that followed that comment showing maybe three 'self-proclaimed anarchists' shattering the windows at RBS, while a REAL protestor is begging them to stop. Out of all of the clips I saw, I could only count a handful of protesters that were involved in random violence and criminal behavior, and yet the lady on the tube lumps the tens of thousands of other peaceful protesters into the same category. Truly sad, because the millions that watch the 'news' and aren't tuned into what is really going on here will take her words as absolute fact.

These media outlets are spewing blatant lies, IMO. This whole mess is absolutely riduculous, and I'm sick of it.
