Lahore Police Acadamy " Retaken "

news.bbc.co.uk

Pakistani security forces say they have taken control of a police academy that was seized by a group of gunmen.

Television footage showed paramilitary troops celebrating on the roof of the compound, near Lahore, after they had besieged the building for eight hours.

A senior interior ministry official said four militants had been killed and three others had been arrested.

He said the number of people killed in the raid was still being verified. Reports vary between four and 40.

There seems to be alot of goings on in Lahore, what with the attack on the sri lanken cricket team there aswell.

also i wonder why we arnt really told much about the story until after the police had retaken the acadamy, i beleive this will be happening alot more, where we wont be told anything until its over or if its going to be globally catastrophic then we wont be told until its too late to do anything, What do you think guys???

Peace xxx

Thing is , Pakistan has been all over the news just lately. There have been armed uprisings all over the place, many of them following the same patterns. Small groups of heavily armed gunmen, peppering things with automatic fire, while hurling grenades and or home made explosives. This is happening all over the region, not just limited to Pakistan. This is generaly due to the border problems to the north as far as I am aware. Its not that these things are being "kept" out of the media. They are in the media, its just that its not news any more. Its olds. And frankly , the rest of the world has long been aware that not just Pakistan, but the entire region is a boiling pot of Fundamentalist groups. Sure, maybe Pakistan has a smaller percentage of participants in murder and mayhem, perhaps the terrorists responsible for these acts arent even from there, but its old news. If something like this happened in dowtown Tokyo, or France, or Russia, then of course the media would be all over it because it wouldnt be quite as expected. With Pakistan , its an unfortunate but not unheard of occurance, so the media, although not ignoring such events , will cover them less and less the more it happens. Unless of course there is escalation and a massive death toll over a time, or after one catastrophic attack.

They're blaming the LeT for this attack... seems unlikely considering their political leanings.

Perhaps another attack by the group responsible for the Sri Lanka cricket team attack. Bin Laden's boys turning against the Pakistani establishment in order to destabilise the country perhaps.
