whats the best russian fighter plane?

i was wondering which russian fighter plane is the best at the moment. secondly, another question is which design bureau (sukhoi, mikhojan, etc) is the most advanced.

As for your question, I'd say Sukhoi - they have some really kick ass stuff.

I love the Su-37 Berkut - it just looks sweet. It is more experimental though - I don't think any have been made, but it is a very awsome aircraft.

Best current aircraft would be the Su-34, I'd say. I'm not sure where it is in terms of development, etc., thugh, and it's not really a fighter but a strike fighter. It seems very comfortable and has some stealthy aspects, like most newer Russian designs.

The MiG-33 looks quite good as well, but I don't know how many are operational. The Russian Air Force hasn't bought much of anything since 1995.

Another plane that may/may not come out is the Mig 1.42 I have heard that this will try to be their competition to the Raptor. It would have thrust vectoring be somewhat stealthy (it is also rumered to have that ever elusive Russian plasma stealth generator ) and directly compete for air dominance. I have heard late this decade as a probable production date.

You can see the 37 is not as stealthy as the F22, the weapons out the outside bay, and the cockpit does not have a W shaped outline. But, we are not Aerospace engineers, so we don't know for sure.

the mig 1.41, but it doesnt have any weapons or maybe the s-37, that cant carry weapons hhhmmm so many new prototypes that cant carry weapons in russia

well...it depends on which of the su-37 versions you mean. the berkut supposedly has a weapon chaimber..like the raptor...whereas the superflanke does not.

thanks for giving your opinions on the fighter jets...well..now i was thinking how far behind the russians are with producing reasonably competative bombers...i mean the tupolevs are not aircrafts which can be taken too seriously (not even the tu-160).

Su 37 will NEVER be produced. It was just a technology demonstrator.

The tech demostrator has been redesignated S(u)-47, the Su-37 is a production plane with the worlds first working 3d Trust vector control allowing it to outmanuver anything. On a cost basis this thing will own the F-22, as it come in around 40 million whereas the f-22 120million....... 1 vs. 3......... ouch.
Check up on this plane though, this may be the direction the rest of the worlds fighters go, because the only way to beat manuverability is manuverability of your own, to beat stealth you need better radar, or a mistake.

fastest: MiG-31 (Mach 2.5 cruise, Mach 3+ top speed)
maneuverable: Su-30MK
best looking: Su-34
weird looking: Su-47
sexy looking: Mig-39
