Sarcasm aside, I agree with you in principle. I still hold that the problem is our expectation of entertainment over textbook media ideals. We simply don't want to hear it. If however, I suggested a fee and license system similar to the BBC where funds go directly from the taxpayer to the BBC (as opposed to the government as in many other European nations), I would be burnt at the stake for being an ungodly socialist

If the idea that human beings are creatures motivated by stimulation, that entertainment and leisure are the primary goal for the majority of the species is a sign that the world is coming to an end, I'd like to know...

For the love of god, every time I see a more recent picture of the guy, he looks more and more mutant or alien, too much time under that knife I guess. He is a kind of sculpture between Rosie O'Donnell, and skeletor.

If I remember right, in Jim Marrs book 'Rule by Secrecy' organized sports teams and entertainment were designed to distract from governement activites. Before organized sports, after dinner parties men would retire to the parlor for cigars and brandy and discuss the govt concerns of the day. Now, we discuss NASCAR, NFL, Chris Brown beating on Rhianna, Jens showdown with Brad & Angie at the Oscars, and other mindless topics. Meanwhile, there's too few of us discussing the real issues that effect our lives.
