Totally bored and immobilised again sooo..

If anyone needs any "Building blocks" for any music projects gimme a shout.

Drums,Bass,Guitar(nothing too crazy fast though),Sequences,Arpeggios,whatever.

Format wise,I'll post them up in separate "Music bits" podcast thread in 192kps,44khz.(Normalised to -1.5db.)So they'll be quick to load and still decent enough quality to use in cd projects.

Just throw description of style,tempo,key... here and I'll make something up.

Oh yeah.. FREE of course,in case anyone didn't get the 'bored' point..

Me and a friend have a mock rap project, and while I do all the programming myself it can get quite tedious and annoying now and then.

If you want to make me some synth work with a typical rap beat (and a section later in it where it goes all out double bass, then back to predictable and generic. Since we're throwing in random death metal bits
) it would greatly be appreciated, and we'll write some lyrics to it and whatnot. If you're THAT bored.

Yeah it does get tedious sometimes.
You get too tied up in the 'techie' side of things sometimes.
A fresh set of ideas and ears can give you the kickstart to take it up a notch.
Gimme key and tempo,

Do you have an idea/influence.Eg a youtube link of a band doing something similar? Then tell me "more grunge/dirt" etc.

I'm thinking jazz break in the middle of "englishman in new york" already here.Just double bass solo instead.
Sounds fun.

Oh yeah, for sure. I got a new project in the work where I'm redoing all the best songs I've written, but since we're short of a drummer and some of it requires keys, I have to program alot. I really find it fun, but after awhile you just get so tired of it.

That jazz break sounds perfect, but I can't really think of any example. Just pretty much typical rap, but with a bit of a twist to it. Maybe like, intricate oldschool rap meets predictable new age rap?

you can do what you like with it, it doesn't really matter, we're not picky

and thanks again

I remember a long time ago, I made a "Techno Grindcore" song that was completely programmed. When I showed it to people, I often got a "What the hell is this?"

Exactly what I was shooting for

Okeee dokeee,

Artistic freedom har har.

Gimmee an hour or two. I'll post up the mp3 with the full loop, then broken down into components so you can mix n match the bits.

(Full Loop..then /drums only /bass only /synth only/hook only)..all on one post. I'll link it in here n vice versa.

Dminor? saddest of all the keys ok?

D Minor works for me.

If I'm adding anything over it, it'll probably only be light guitar work, aswell as the vocals. But vocals aren't an issue since we're going with the typical cheesy auto-tuned rap vocals.

followed by some awesome Death Growls lol

anyway, thanks for your help
looking forward to it!

www.abovetopsecret.com...

Give this a shot.
I stuck in a bit of extra guitar riff. It sounds pretty evil lol

Double bass solo took the longest, It's in double time.

Beats are 85bpm.

192kbps file, not 128 for full cd quality audio. my woopsy.
Mixes nicely together to form a rap/death metal idea.

Cursor over the blue link to the track, right click and "save as"should get it to your system.

What mixer/audio software do you use to chop and glue it all together out of curiosity?

Ah, alright
thanks

and I use Reaper, personally.

What'd you use to make this?
I do most of my programming in Fruity Loops Studio 7.

Ahh cool,so you get a good graphic view of audio files for splitting then

I use Sonar Producer as the master recorder, and so many Softsynths it's not funny...As well as a heap of 'real' instruments.

In those loops are
Addictive drums
Colossus for Bass/Double bass
Kinetic 2.
Guitar(Real) layered with slayer softsynth) can get a real dirty sound like that...very 'Matrix'

They're mostly 'clean' ish so you can add fx to your preference.
(stereo Pingpong delays with a highpass filter are great for drum samples to give them more motion.)

Fiddle, fiddle n fiddle some more, you can always undo/reset 'history' if you make a woopsy.

I've made a couple already.

I'm gonna get my 'bandmate' over and we're gonna look it over and wee what we wanna do with it. In other words, I'm not doing any major fiddling until I can get a second opinion, but I'm excited to work with this. Thanks again for the help

So the bass isn't real?
It sounds pretty realistic to me

Heres a fave trick of mine.

Make two tracks of the drums simultaneous.

Keep one dry...(Keeps the Bass drum punchy.

On the other, run it through all kinds of echoes/distortion/modulation etc..(Just remember the high pass filter if you don't want the bass drum echoing etc)

Tempo sync the delays to the host if you don't want to use a calc for the delay times.

The standard 'filter sweep' can replace the need for drum breaks too for variety.

I used to hate loops for tracks before I started messing around with fx

Got any more samples that would go with the above loops? I wanted to make an entirely sample-based track using only your samples for a challenge and I need some more to thicken up the track as the guitar part doesn't sit well with the rest (doesn't flow).

I would have uploaded the mp3 of the start but for some reason I get:

Your file, btsmpod_3242.mp3, of audio/mpeg3 is not supported, please try a different file.

when I try to upload...

I dunno what to suggest.
I d/loaded it here no problem. right click over link "save target/link as"

They all loop fine.
What type of editor are you using and how are you looping it if it won't download.

The guitar (like the rest except double bass) is an 8 bar loop but with a tail on,cut/paste/overlay at beat 8 and it sits fine.

I'll give an audio example of them mixed,(and knock up some more).
