Krugman won because of the collapse of the financial system. Before the collapse, Krugman wasn't even on the radar, and the front-runner was a man who spent his career working in efficient-market theories.

Krugman called the collapse, and with everybody running around like madmen, Krugman was handed the Nobel Prize.

In regards to the topic of this thread:

People crack me up.

News: "George Bush nominated for Nobel Peace Prize"
Left-Wing: For being a war-monger???? Outrage! Outrage! Blah, blah, blah...!

Right-Wing: You know, it's pretty easy to get nominated, and he won't win anyway.

News: "Barack Obama nominated for Nobel Peace Prize"
Right-Wing: Already???? He negotiates with terrorists! Outrage! Outrage! Blah, blah, blah...!

Left-Wing: You know, it's pretty easy to get nominated, and he won't win anyway.
