I was thinking the same thing.

A prelude to an "accidental" collision perhaps.

Maybe they created all the debris on purpose so they can use it as the excuse for an accident to the iranian satellite if they decide to take it out.

true, but the debris are also a risk to other US and satelites for other countries, not just Iran.
so it would be a foolish way to coverup a way to get to one satelite and put others at risk

The UN? before spouting about UN sanctions against Iran let me remind you of...Israel.This is good,nice to see another country reaching for the heavens.Now they have the know how this will be the first of many i presume.
