Obama Presidency 'Ignites Ku Klux Klan'

ONLINE registrations for white supremacy group the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) have significantly increased following Barack Obama's presidential win, a former KKK leader says.

"They (KKK) actually sent me an email just the other day and were telling me that Barack Obama was the best thing that ever happened to them and they're excited and happy because their membership is growing larger than it ever has," he said.

A KKK resurgence in the US? As noted above, all they needed to boost their numbers was for a black President to be elected. So does this mean that existing Klansmen are happy to see Obama elected? I thought these guys had largely gone by the way and the only existing members were the most extreme, inbred back-country folk that existed in places like that in Deliverence.

Interesting to note that the Klan are actively recruiting in New Zealand as well.

I remember seeing posters for the Klan here in Australia back in the late '80's, early '90's. Never really took off.

Everyday I see more reasons making that claim true
specifically white caucasian americans, wherein the lot of them forgot they were the first illegal immigrants.

I find the KKK stupid.To say the least.
People should not judge Obama upon the color of his skin.
Yes sure for certain there are many African American racist groups that use the stupidity of his skin color to gloat about.
But the fact is he is Harvard law, hes no different than the rest of them.
Most people who support Obama who aren't racist, support him because of his policies.
It is true enough that its a historic milestone in America's history for someone of African heritage to be able to be President.
But this just celebrates the demise of racism, and the uprising of freedom for all people.
All people to be judged upon there own merits, not there class color or culture.
All these people who are joining the KKK because they don't want an African President, are undemocratic and resemble more socialist Nazi's than Americans.

I don't know if this is true or not.

- It could be wishful thinking on his part.

- He could just be saying it for free advertising.

- The ON LINE registrations could be pranks by people or could be people who were upset and just registered to vent steam.

I really don't think their numbers are vastly growing because of Obama being elected.

I'll believe it when the actual meetings and revenue grow. THEN I'll believe it.

Otherwise - This is just trusting the words of a nutter at face value.

How can you judge all Americans based on the actions of a select minority (aka Klansmen).

Not sure how true this is, a lot of racists I know voted for Obama. Some of them think he would further their cause by screwing things up. Others said he was the better pick.
The Klan hasn't had any power since the late 1970s anyway, Morris Dees will just find a way to sue them and make a profit off of them anyhow so its probably a moot point if they are recruiting.

I find it sad you can be so narrow minded yourself, not all the folks in the USA are as narrow minded as you believe. Their are 300 million of us over here so your just going to assume that out of that number all white people are dumb and racist? Grow UP!!!!!

It pisses me off that people over here won't let this crap go. No one today can be held responsible for what happened back in the day when slavery ran rampant. I find it sad in this day and age that people still form these groups because their so scared of change and things that are different that they promote acts of violence and hate toward others. When are people going to grow up and learn that we are all from the same planet and the only way for the planet to flourish is to work together instead of causing wars out of acts of hate, greed or violence?

When enough of the people over here that are worried about whether they can feed their families or even shelter them wake up and have finally had enough we might be able to fix this country so how bout your worry about your own country and the problems you have and maybe be just a tad less judgmental of others. We had the same thing happen to us Aussies in the Racist Violence Mars Australia Day Celebrations thread. We had all sorts of people coming in there and basically accusing our entire country of being racists when in fact it was the actions of about 25 drunken louts.

point of order, seems to be an accepted stereotype that "inbreeding" is associated with poor white areas of America, which is not actually the case, and in fact, taking Britain as an example the highest proportion of genetic deformities due to inbreeding with close relatives is among the Pakistani Muslim community, but that wouldn't be an acceptable stereotype now would it.....
