ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Mount Redoubt, a volcano 100 miles southwest of Anchorage, is rumbling and simmering, prompting geologists to warn that an eruption may be imminent.


ive jsut found this, not much on it as it was only reported between 1 huor- 19 mins ago, i found it on yahoo news of all places lol

if anyone has more info it wud be appreciated

Alaska's very volcanically active -- perhaps as active as Hawaii. When we visited the state, we'd intended to do a trip to one of the Aleutian Island volcanoes but it was too active and spewing ash, making it dangerous to fly in the area (ash chokes the airplane engines.) The Pacific Rim is, if you remember, known as "the Ring of Fire"...and has had that name for decades due to the active volcanoes along it.

Interesting, but not terribly surprising. Volcano watchers will have their eyes on this one to see what happens. Quite often you get some lava and smoke and then everything goes quiet for dozens of years.
