Why Did The "Santa Slayer" Shoot An 8 Year Old Girl In The Face?

I dont think he was evil, if hes evil so is a very large portion of the planet. The kid was probably about waist high so his gun was already there. Hes going in to kill everyone and then get out of the country, not go in and let people get away to say who did it.

That point alone makes this entire thread invalid. Why do you leave someone alive to say who you are? Oh I was just here to kill everyone and flee the country OH NOES ITS A KID GUESS I CANT GET AWAY!

LOL no thats not how it works.

The guy was extremely angry at his ex wife. Guys 45 years old. He probably doesnt think he will live much longer. 1+1=2.

I said americans think its great entertainment, people killing anyone, and torturing done by your country.

If the daily show was on, they would have made a joke of it, so do not go there, trying to say any different when anyone can look bakc at how much americans laughed at what happened in iraq.

Thats true and a lot of people do enjoy seeing horrible things happen to each other. Look at Rome, thats just in history of course but it shows you how its in almost every human psyche.

I dont buy that even a majority dont enjoy it, think about when you were in school and some poor nerd was getting the crap beat out of him. Remember how many kids stood around watching? They enjoyed seeing it. Heck as I recall sometimes there would be 20 girls watching two guys fight. Its not even sex based. Dont believe me? Go check youtube for a few fight videos.

I almost tend to think people grow up and realize their frailty and dont want anything bad happening to themselves so they turn that outward. And hence empathy.

When I heard about the 8 yr old it didnt really affect me. I think its a waste of potential. I would rather have seen the adults die. But it doesnt affect me like other people I guess.

Please don't generalize all Americans are that way.

I am an American and I can't stand to see any human in pain or tortured.

You must judge each and every man alone on his/her own merits.

Making a blanket statement that "all ____ are like this" is dangerous and that is how the violence you are rightfully condeming happens".

Very good post (starred) and your post brought up some additonal thoughts that came from a couple books I read on bullying.

Maybe just maybe some of these "nuts" that are "going postal" is the result of being bullied their whole life.

There's always that one kid in the school yard that a couple bullies will pick on and nobody will step in and defend them because everyone else is "scared"

Maybe we as a society must learn to not tolerate bullying of any kind because it's not nice but also it is so hurtful to the person being bullied.

Again I've said this a thousand times and nobody seems to get it, we are all interconnected like a mobile above a baby's bed, if you move just one of the items in that mobile the entire mobile moves.

What affects one of us affects all of us and most people refuse to see the big picture.

I'm not saying anyone is ever justified in "going postal" but maybe these people should have been protected and defended against being bullied.

Maybe this type of behaviour comes from having been abused by the majority of people in their lives.

I lived on a farm and once a hen gave birth to some chicks. One of those chicks was born with a deformed beak and foot. The other chickens pecked it to death. Humans do the same thing to other humans if "you're not thin enough", "look within an acceptable range", "act the same as everyone else", etc......we shun people who don't fit into our criteria of "normal" and poke fun at them or stand by and allow others to bully them and this horrible event might be the end result of when people do not stand up and demand everyone act polite towards each other.

Obviously this man (and I use that term very loosely, as he is hardly a man in my book) was the epitome of evil. Whether he was insane, temporarily insane or mentally ill or whatever is irrelevant in my mind.

With regards to shooting the child: My guess is that this evil coward was determined to open fire on whoever opened the door. Perhaps he never contemplated the idea that an 8-year-old child would answer the door. And, perhaps, when that child answered the door, the man just opened fire as a sort of natural reflex without putting any thought into it. I think his true intentions regarding his willingness to murder children can be determined by the subsequent casualties. Did he target any other children after shooting this one? Did he pass over any children in order to get to the adults? These are questions that need to be answered when trying to put some kind of sense to this tragedy, particularly the shooting of this poor 8-year-old child.

Apparently this coward had planned to live and flea to Canada. His plans were thwarted when he accidentally set himself on fire, melting his Santa suit to his skin and causing 3rd degree burns. The coward then turned his gun on himself. It's a real shame that he did this. Because I think an evil monster like him should have to face justice in a court of law, and then face the justice of being in prison and having to worry about getting shanked every day.

Anyway, I think this story does speak to the moral decline of this country, whether the man was mentally ill or not. Things like this just should not happen in any society, especially this one.

Actually the Jennifer Aniston scantily clad shoot she did and the Obama shirtless photo is what everyone here seems to care about which that in itself is quite disturbing. I think Jennifer was on CNN's front page for about 6-7 days and shirtless Obama has now been there for 3 days.

As for the actual news nobody I know except myself watches it anymore. Heck they didn't even know there was any issues going on between India and Pakistan or Israel and the Gaza strip. When I asked them what they thought they just looked at me with blank faces my co-workers did the same.

So I mentioned the Killer Santa and I got the same looks from both. Oh but they knew all about Obama shirtless and Jennifer's photo shoot geesh.

Until my 30 year old son went through a nasty divorce this would never have occurred to me.

BUT

There are two sets of laws in this country when it comes to divorce at least in the state I live in.

I have seen many women when they divorce brag about "sticking it to him" and our laws and courts allow this.

My son now hands over 42% of his paycheck to his"ex wife". She drives a new car, wears Prada and has her hair done in a fancy salon once a month.

My son drives a 10 year old junker, has his hair done at Hair Crafters once a month and buys his shoes and clothes from Kmart.

She was awarded their child not because she is the better parent but because the courts see her as sole owner of my grand daughter. My grand daughter from the age of 2 to now 7 still cries when she has to leave my son (who gets to have her every other weekend). They formed a close bond when my son, her father watched her every night while "mom" went out. Now my grand daughter is left with "sitters".

As sleazy as OJ Simpson is, the the day of Nicole Brown Simpson's murder she was coming home (to a nice expensive house OJ probably was paying for) with her boyfriend she had bought a $200.00 lunch for (guess who paid for that bill?) Probably O.J.

Divorce laws were originally made to protect women when society wasn't as "women friendly", now many women are abusing those laws and "sticking it to their ex's while laughing". and our laws allow this misuse of justice.

Some people that are being bullied have no other recourse but to lash out.

While I don't condone this horrendous behavior I can understand it and possibly how it came about.

The ex-wife probably asked for it. She probably pushed him once to hard too often.

She probably took advantage and used the law to bully him.

Our divorce laws suck BIG TIME.

A good movie to watch that portrays what I am talking about as far as child custody laws is Gone Baby Gone with Morgan Freeman.........

the guy had a beef (that means a problem) with the entire family because they were his EX-IN LAWS. he had a getaway plan to goto Canada and hide but he got burnt too badly from the fire he started @ the house where he killed the people (two bodies are still "missing" ie: burnt into ashes).

so then he broke into his brother's house because his brother wasn't home, but tried to knock first I understand (lol). it is there that he killed himself.

has to make you wonder how bad the burn was.. most people could cover it with clothing after putting an impromptu bandage together to put over top of it. it must've been so bad that he would've been noticed, who knows.

he also rigged his rental car to explode if you removed the partially burnt santa suit from the seat. i havent read all the replies to this thread so im sure someone already posted this information that I found this morning on CNN's website. it was newly updated information @ the time..

Very disturbing. I will, however, echo another poster with this thought.

I know a guy whose divorce was just made final. His wife had been cheating on him his entire marriage, and he never knew. He is just a nice guy, period, and he is a bit naive. He does not know if his children are really his. He must make the payments on his mortgage, while the house is in the possession of his wife for some court-ordered period of time. His ex-best friend lives in the house with his ex wife. He also has to pay his wife a monthly payment plus child support. She got most of the personal possessions. He is a loving father who dotes on his children, and he is only allowed to see them one weekend every two weeks. His ex is already trying to turn them against him. She has told their mutual friends that she could no longer stand living with someone so stupid, and she laughs about the way she took everything from him.

Now, nothing justifies murder, especially the murders of innocents, but think about the way our society handles male/female relationships, and it is no surprise that these things happen. Men tend to be aggressive and women tend to be passive. Aggression is seen by our society as evil, but passive aggression is tolerated or even rewarded. Clearly the woman in my example above is a sociopath whose tendencies are rewarded by society. No doubt the Santa case will cause the government to push for further emasculation of males and further suppression of aggression, and what will be the result of that? Will that strategy not feed the problem?

How many men have committed suicide because of a ridiculous court system that goes way beyond just destroying their lives when a woman decides she wants out for possibly no good reason at all?

Oh, but asking this question is glorifying the horror of this event, right? Let's not look at the cause at all. Let's ignore the number of perfectly normal men who have been driven to do insane things by the divorce/alimony/child support system around us. Men should just eat a gun and go quietly, right?

I live in Northern Canada and the number of men around here who have committed suicide over this is very alarming. They plead with the courts for sanity and just get laughed at.

This couple had no children. This man no longer had a job. Please explain why the courts are justified in doing what they did to him. I am not defending his actions. I am examining the cause.

Because he is a worthless dog and I hope he spends his eternity with Hitler getting a pineapple in his bum!

But I wonder. Is it possible to be evil if your not able to hold onto your own mind to begin with? And how does that look at judgement within the context of judgement day before God. Not that I am religious, I just wonder in that framework what that scenario "looks like". For instance, if God (if) made a man so stupid as to be controllable--is he punished as if what he does were his own action?

I was thinking off a conspiracy that maybe because he was an aerospace engineer they made him kill his family because maybe she knew too much about what he did after the divorce. So they tunred him into a crazed assassin.

Well boo hoo for all the poor men, about time women got to have more of a say and take men for a ride, Cos that's what men have done throughout the ages to women, so don't give me that men end up with nothing crap, men deserve all they get, and no woman deserves to be shot and killed because a man happened to have to pay for his family, cowards!

This might have something to do with why he shot the girl as he did - that is if it wasn't just the fact that she was the one who answered the door when he was all jacked up to shoot and kill.
