Dozens of NATO supply trucks torched in Pakistan!

www.washingtonpost.com

PESHAWAR, Pakistan -- Suspected militants attacked a Pakistan transport terminal used to supply NATO and U.S. troops in Afghanistan, killing a guard and burning 106 vehicles on Sunday.

The assault was the boldest yet on trucks carrying critical supplies to foreign troops in Afghanistan, feeding concern that Taliban militants could cut or seriously disrupt the route through the famed Khyber Pass.

After the horrific attack on Mumbai, now terrorists are fighting against the presence of American troops in Afghanistan who are targeting terrorist bases of the Al-Qaeda and Taliban along the NW borders of Pakistan.

This area is extremely vital for NATO/American troops fighting the insurgents in Afghanistan as up to 75 percent of their supplies pass through Pakistan after being unloaded from ships at the Arabian Sea port of Karachi.

This may be a tactic on the part of the Pakistan Government / ISI / Military to blackmail America to relieve pressure on the Mumbai investigations by indicating the vulnerability of the line of communication which would be impossible to secure in future once Pakistan is forced to pull out its troops from here to its Eastern border with India as a consequence of the heightened tensions.

As is well known, Pakistan’s game plan was to create an adverse situation with India as an excuse to allow it to withdraw its army from their Western borders with Afghanistan to the East facing India as it is loosing hundreds of its soldiers there.

For the Army/ISI, running with the hare and hunting with the hounds is becoming increasingly untenable - a tough option that is becoming extremely difficult to handle. On the one hand they are aiding the Taliban with arms, ammo and logistics support for their operations against American/NATO Forces in Afghanistan, and on the other it is facing the music from the very same Taliban for helping the West in their war against terror!

Wheels within wheels! And it’s only getting worse. Who’s in command in Pakistan? The alarm bells have started ringing as many Western strategists are worried about the safety of Pakistan’s nuclear weapons.

Wow 106 trucks, that's a lot of supplies.

It makes me wonder what the heck those in charge were thinking. They killed one guard? Did they just leave one guard to guard 106 trucks or such an important cache of supplies? Where were the rest of the guards? I really hope they are not incompetent enough to leave 1 guard to watch over this stuff. If so, that'd be such a waste of our money it's not even funny.

The coincidence always amazed me.
Nato/U.S. gets most of their supplies to Afghanistan via Pakistan.

Each time the U.S. pressures Pakistan in one form or another, (Predator strike, or Political), suddenly in the next day or two the Nato convoy's are attacked.

It never fails.

This time Condi Rice pressures Pakistan about the Mumbai attacks, and there was a predator strike.

So the retaliation was stronger than usual.

Makeitso has really nailed it and the first sentence of the articles states it.

Suspected militants, not terrorists or just plain pissed off Pakistanis. Unusual wordage given the circumstances and area of the world.
