Blackwater guards identified: all decorated vets.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- More than a year after the fatal shootings of 17 Iraqi civilians, five decorated military veterans who were Blackwater Worldwide security guards are headed to court in a case that strained diplomatic ties and raised the level of anti-Americanism in Baghdad.

Iraqis hope the charges, to be unsealed Monday, finally will bring justice and improve relations with the United States after the gruesome slayings on Sept. 16, 2007.

Iraq, 2007 Blackwater operatives gunned down Iraqi civilians. Was this a bunch of trigger happy shadow army soldiers or was this an actual act of defence, Blackwater has long been known to operate under shady at best rules of engagement so was this attack provoked or were these kid's with a licence to kill part or some other agenda? We all know that Blackwater has been used as a private army of sorts but what happens when they kill inocent people? will it just become another "causualties of war" scenario or will we practice what we preach and convict of war crimes as this "war on terror continues.

I've never heard of Blackwater until now, but it seems odd that a random group of soldiers would just shoot an innocent seeming group of Iraqi citizens.

Is it possible something else was going on, and those citizens were caught in the crossfire?

Check this vid out, Blackwater has been contracted by the DOD to provide security services but more and more the credibility of their operations has come into question as reports of unprovoked killings come to light.
