Looking for reference by Russian offical on turning America communist

Not long ago, I saw an article, video or possibly a post here that mentioned a comment by some Russian official abuot how they would conquer American capitalism and democracy. It went something like

The American people would never accept communism outright, but if we feed little bits of socialism over time, one day they will wake up and realize it is already upon them.

Is anyone familiar with this and can provide references?

I'm asking here because I was not successful at obtaining the information via numerous websearchs over the last couple of days.

Lenin said this in the very early 1920's, when he was formulating his New Ecomomic Policy (NEP). During the same time frame, he also told other people that when the West started recognizing the Communist led, USSR that the U.S. would be so happy to do business with Soviet Russia that we would gladly sell them the rope that they would in turn use to strangle us with. I can't remember what book or when it was that I read it, but the quotes themselves are pretty accurate. Like the othjer person who responded to your thread, you can prbably google that and come up with the Lenin book or speech that it came from.

Do you have an exact quote by Lenin? As I recall, the quote I heard was from someone more recent. Perhaps Gorbachev or Khrushchev.
