I know as far as small arms go like rifles, handguns, machineguns, etc... an awful lot of their work is done by small machine shops all over the
place. These machine shops will mill, cut, bend and work just about anything for anybody for any reason so war or peace they'll still have plenty of
work. The base heart and soul of the small arms companies, even the huge names like Colt, Sig, Glock, are generally very small with only a handful of
employees. During peace-time there is still a substantial civilian market home and abroad and police and military and feds. They all require new guns
every so often.
As far as bomb makers go I imagine it's similar just on a bigger scale.
I should add, Colt had to lay-off a substantial number of employees after 1994. Not because of relative peace-time but because of Clintons AWB. Thanks
Clinton. We didnt need those jobs or anything. They were nice high-paying jobs too.
