Is it cause he's black?

As an outside (Canadian) observer, I got to say that this whole US election business is really perplexing to me. Namely, the way many people are talking about Obama.

I mean, I’m honestly baffled at the hate this guy is getting. All the “anti-Christ” business and the treating him like he’s the most evil thing to happen to America makes ZERO sense to me. I see him as a pretty progressive guy who is refreshing and seems strong enough to help America get out of the mess that the country is in.

But man…This guy is made out to be Satan by some people. I just don’t get it! I mean disagreeing with someone’s policies is one thing…But saying he’s going to bring America to hell is something else! There’s a whole new level of hate when it comes to Obama that seems almost like it could be a joke to someone on the outside looking in.

And all this business about him being a Muslim…Not quite sure where that came from, though I don’t really see why it matters either. I guess this is another argument all together, but I thought you guys had separation of Church and State down there? Seems pretty odd that all this hoopla is being made about whether he’s a Muslim or not. I mean, would you refuse care from a superior doctor because he’s Muslim? Would be pretty stupid if you did…But anyways, I’m not going to pretend to understand that because I think America is a lot more religious than Canada is.

Anyways, to get back to my question…I want to know, straight up. Honestly, no bull poop. Give me the honest truth here.

Is it because he’s black?

For some people it's because he's black. For others it's because he's somewhat new and offers something different. However, for some people those things are why they like Obama.

The "Obama is the Antichrist" crowd DOES NOT represent the opinions of the majority of Americans. Personally, I find that belief as ignorant and counter-productive.

Oh don't get me wrong, I didn't mean to represent the majority of Americans as that "anti-Christ" crowd. It's just that I see alot of it on message boards, which is totally nuts to me.

The funniest thing is, only his skin is black. He is much whiter inside than most urban white people.

For me it's not because he's black that I hate him, it's his policies. He's an evil, evil man that wants to do evil things to this nation. He has a very bad history of being corrupt and working with the mob in Chicago while he was a state senator there. He is a socialist that wants to turn American into a welfare state which will destroy it.

This is why a black man (Obama) can't lose this election. If you get questioned, just pull the race card. Guaranteed victory.

I get so sick of the race card being pulled out. I am white, live in an all white community, my kids school is all white. I AM VOTING FOR BARACK OBAMA. Now, just because my kids go to a white school, does that make me racist? or does it just happen because of the rural area I live in. Bet nobody thought there were schools like this anymore. Why does everybody think he is the Anti Christ anyway? Just because of some stupid e mail going around?
I work for state government and have seen the republicans send it into privatization. The tune of 1.5 Billion for a 5 year contract. Guess what, the state has acquired all of the functions back, but do you think the private company gave any money back? When repulicans talk about less government, they mean privatize it. I wish someone would research how many federal organizations have been privatized under BUSH.
Obama looks refreshing to me. I always thought voting democrat was voting against GOD. I have come to the conclusion that that is not true.

I don't see all this Obama hate you're talking about. I see nothing but a love fest from the MSM here in the US. In fact I think the media is reluctant to criticize him for fear of being branded racist. Saturday Night Live has been making fun of McCain and Palin week after week with barely a single parody of Obama. Why do you think that is?

Sure there are some extreme views outside the main stream media but that is happening on both sides.

Nope. I like blacks,asians,indians. I don't like Obama because of his questionable loyalties. Ex. Odingo, Ayers, Kenya, Rezko. I feel a president should only have one loyalty. The United States of America Constitution!

Would you mind expanding a bit? I don’t mean to offend but what you say sounds kinda irrational and overblown. An evil man with evil policies? I won’t pretend to know everything about this election but I haven’t seen anything so far that would qualify as evil.

What about him says he wants to turn American into a welfare state? Where has he stated this? And frankly, about socialism… I don’t really see much wrong with a socialist system. I mean, in Canada we are pretty high up on the social system and it works nicely here. I can walk into any hospital and get treated for anything and not pay a dime. It’s not too shabby. And lets face it…America already has a ton of “socialist” systems in place, ranging from public schools to welfare programs to food stamps to Medicaid to a government funded military.

I dunno, I don’t want to start an argument but your post just seems like the type of irrational hate for Obama that I’m talking about. I’m not saying it’s racially motivated (in your case) but it seems a little…too much?

It's a waste of my time. McCain is almost as bad as Obama.

Even if I was for McCain, I know there would be no winning you over any way. Obama supporters will support him right to their graves. No changing their minds. Breaking news could come out tomorrow that he's a child rapist, and people would still support him.

Why I reckon, is because white people want to make some point that they aren't racist and can vote for a black guy. Just the mere fact that this thread exists is a testament to this theory - if you don't like Obama, you are a racist! And we know that's the worst thing you can be. So hurry up and go vote Obama to prove you aren't one of them there evil racists.

If a white candidate started his political career in the home of an unrepentant terrorist, had as a mentor a member of the Communist party, listened for twenty years to a hate mongering preacher, and then trained and helped to fund ACORN, the organization which is mostly responsible for the huge mortgage mess and voter fraud registrations, he would have been booted out of the presidential race long ago.
Obama is getting a pass because he is black, and his opponents are deathly afraid of being called racists. This is the truth.

But that works both ways. There seem to be just as many people who think he's the greatest thing in the world and will usher in the new era of "peace and love and joy, oh my!"

The people who feel that way about him...it's also just because he's black.
